Does this product contain lead?

Banyan does not intentionally add lead to any products. There is an esoteric class of Ayurvedic medicines that uses metals for healing called Rasa Shastra, but Banyan does not produce or carry these types of products.Lead is an element that exists in nature. Lead is widely distributed in the environment and may be found naturally in the earth, soil, and water as a result of geologic deposits of lead. Plants grown in soils containing lead can uptake lead into parts of the plants. Another source of lead in the environment has been through human activities such as the use of leaded gasoline.

Why are there added fillers in the tablets?

Our Triphala tablets are 500 mg each and they contain an equal amount of our certified organic Amalaki, Bibhitaki and Haritaki fruit. Our tablets also contain other ingredients from natural sources which include organic rice flour and organic gum acacia. These ingredients are used to bind the powders together and help everything flow through the tablet presses. Our Triphala tablets are free of gluten, soy and dairy. They contain no animal products and they are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. We also offer organic Triphala powder without any excipients, and Triphala liquid extract, as alternative choices.

Does this help with melasma?

Due to FDA regulations, we are unable to make any statements that imply our products are intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, illness or symptom. However we may share that Triphala is gently cleansing and detoxifying, while simultaneously nourishing, to several systems of the body including the digestive, circulatory, respiratory and genitourinary systems.

How much lead is in your product, triphala?

Our herbs and products are tested for arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury using independent U.S. laboratories. The acceptable limits for daily intake are as follows: Arsenic content shall not exceed 0.01 milligrams per daily dose (10 micrograms per day) Cadmium content shall not exceed 0.0041 mg/d (4.1 micrograms per day) Lead content shall not exceed 0.01 mg/d (10 micrograms per day) Mercury content shall not exceed 0.002 mg/d (2 micrograms per day) All of our products are within the safety guidelines stipulated by the American National Standards Institute/National Sanitation Foundation International Dietary Supplement Standard 173 (ANSI 173).
