Just as heโs settling into life on Earth (bowling? Knock-knock jokes? OUTSTANDING!), strange portals begin opening all over town. And even stranger creatures are coming through them! But it will take more than a giant mutant chicken, a viking hippo, or a few million killer vegetables to stop Hilo, D.J., and Gina from keeping Earth safe. Can Team Hilo figure out how to send these creatures back to their separate worlds before they destroy everything? Filled with laugh-out-loud text, colorful illustrations, and the occasional space robot, this action-packed graphic novel series shows that no matter where you come from, kindness, friendship, and choosing your own path are the greatest superpowers of all. And for an outstanding gift, donโt forget to check out Hilo: The Epic Boxed Set , which includes the first 10 books in the series! Review: My 6-Year Old Loves These - My son is a big fan of the Dog Man books so when I found Hilo, I wasn't sure if he would like them. He loves them! He's 6 but started reading these since he was 5. Review: GREAT BOOK! - The book Hilo was a great book. The book takes place in a big city, at Dj's house and in Hilo's secret layer. In the book, Hilo is a robot that crashed on earth from another dimension. In the book Hilo had lost his memory but get back bits and pieces. Hilo becomes friends with Dj and Gina. Hilo remembers that there is a robot called Razorwark that wants to defeat him. Hilo finds out that Razorwark was coming to Earth to try to defeat him. Razorwark tries to come to Earth to defeat Hilo but gets stuck in a portal because he is too big to get through it. Razorwark is stuck so he decides to send other robots instead to Earth to defeat Hilo. Hilo will need the help of Dj and Gina if he is going to defeat them. Hilo saved the parts from the robots he destroyed. Hilo used the extra parts from some of the destroyed robots and made a robot friend for himself. Hilo is a kind robot and doesnโt like to destroy the robots that Razorwark is sending to Earth unless he has to. Instead of destroying them, Hilo just pushes them back into the portal where they came from. In one of his battles Hilo tried pushing some of the robots back into the portal where they came from. When he did this his friend Gina got sucked into the portal also because she was standing to close to it. We won't know what happens to Gina until we read the next book. The book doesn't have a resolution. It leaves you hanging until you read the next book to find out what happens to Gina. We also wonโt know if Hilo succeeds in destroying all of the robots. The book Hilo leaves us with a lot of questions which I enjoy. I like that it has a lot of action and adventure. It made me want to get the next book to see what happened next. Alex

Great, engaging illustrations
Great, engaging illustrations. Irreverent and funny without being disrespectful or gross. Promotes a very subtle message of empowerment and diversity while telling the funny and heartwarming story of a little boy alien who ends up on earth knowing nothing about our strange planet. My 9 YO boy loves to read this to me and the reading level is good for him if a little challenging (some bigger words). We love HiLo!

Iโve been reading Hiloโs stories over the internet with my grandson (heโs in Seattle and Iโm in Chicago), and are using FaceTime to share the book - I read - and he reads. Itโs just so much fun!!
