I previously tried the other products that supposedly are solar powered but both of them failed within one week. Charging by plugging them into computer brought them back to life for a week, but then they died again. I was skeptical of their design anyways, since leaving them in the hot sun in a car to charge does not sound like a good strategy for long life of a plastic electronic item. Lesson learned. On the other hand, I really like this Blue Charm blinking LED. The battery life is an amazing 2 years. That's perfect for me since I want to put it in place, turn it on, and then forget about it. I don't have time to worry about turning these things on and off each day. No doubt, the one night I forget to turn it on, my car will get broken into! I like the design of this product also. Having the LED on a wire gave me more flexibility in how and where to mount it. Eventually, I decided not to drill a hole in my car's dashboard. Instead, I just used the double back tape to position the LED just below the dashboard but sticking out far enough to barely be seen. During the day, I can hardly notice it, but at night it is plenty bright to scare away potential thieves. I am going to order two more of these right away. One for my boat and one for my motorcycle. For the boat, I will definitely mount it through a hole in the dash. The double back tape should hold the LED in place nicely, and I will then tuck the battery pack up behind the dash also. Have not decided yet how to mount it on my motorcycle, but I am thinking to put it under the tank, out of direct sight, then let the LED flash be seen indirectly as it lights the ground underneath. I think this will look clean and also be enough of a deterrent. I might also get one for my garage and put it inside the window on the top edge of the trim. Should work well there too. Overall, 5 stars for this one!

I have been looking for this exact product since Radio shack closed. I have 8 of these in several areas around my house, at the top of windows that face a wooded area behind my house and at the top of windows adjacent to 4 exit doors. Several of my neighbors have commented on how easy to install and a great deterrent.

This has effectively stopped the break-ins and attempted break-ins in one of our older Toyota cars that is parked on the street,

Exhausts AA batteries quickly, I get maybe a week of lighting per battery set. Perhaps best for parking in high risk areas, but not nightly house driveway (unless that’s a risk area and there are other security options). I wonder if this attracts attention to a car as opposed to discourage breakin.

Day 1: So pleased to install batteries & see brilliant RED LIGHT illumination however, I must post a “Buyer Beware!” First, for the money, no big deal! When I first opened, I saw several RED FLAGS immediately that would result in my poor experience. First, I RARELY write reviews! As a consumer, I do read these appreciate others taking the time just the same. ISSUE: Worked for just 15 Minutes before the wires came loose! The BACK PANEL is a computer board 100% unprotected with a “dot of glue” to affix TWO WIRES to mother board for it to light up. BOTH WIRES came LOOSE while positioning carefully on dashboard! I personally exercised extreme caution due to the wires being MUCH TOO SHORT to perform a proper installation. I am returning & DO NOT recommend purchasing unless you are a mechanical engineer with time on your hands to improve how this mother board is designed! I will edit post with photos in short time. Disappointed that Original PHOTOS were misleading & did not include a photo how the “BACKSIDE” of this device exposes its circuitry & glued wires. Talk about poor Aesthetics?? No way to hide it & No luxury car would have it. In other words, you get what you pay for! If manufacturer spent a little MORE TIME & ATTENTION to some details that matter the most, this unit would be AWSOME! Sorry it didn’t work & failed on DAY 1.

I was installing this and a wire came off.. then I tried to repair it and the other wire came off. Probably just a defective unit .. The seller contacted me and refunded my money. I ordered another unit to give it another try.

This is absolutely perfect for our needs. The light is bright and can be seen clearly, even in the daytime. I need a bunch more, but since we have to take out loans to get groceries and gas these days, the cost is a bit high for us. Update: been working perfectly for a year now. Still very happy with it!
