You need it for home antennas or else the incoming signal won't work on most modern Flatscreen TVs. I've tried it on five TVs.

I had purchased their antennas in the past for a 7 inch tv and then we cut the cord and got rid of cable and all of new TVs have roku. I bought their antennas and they worked pretty good and I didn't have to have an antenna outside. We live in a wooded area and channels would flicker for the channels that were further out. I bought these amplifiers and hooked up and the channels cleared up and I was able to get other channels. Using their antenna and amplifiers the picture quality is excellent and when coupled with roku, the over the air channels are filed into the program grid. So, when we cut the TVs on, it looks like we have cable because the over the air channels also have program information. I didn't white, but if you don't mind white, they sell the antenna and the amplifier as a set. Again, it was a good buy at a good price.

Plug this into my antenna and completely blocked the signal to my TV. Channel search would not come up with any channels with this amplifier plugged in and powered up. Once I removed the amplifier, I was able to get quite a few channels.

I couldn't believe this little toy works. The antenna is very small but that doesn't seem to affect performance. I installed the matching Chaowei High Gain TV Antenna Amplifier with the matching antenna and scanned the channels. I got 55 channels and I live 50 miles away from the transmitter towers. Being digital all the channels were clear except for one weak one that had pixels. The antenna is very sensitive to location. Moving it just a foot makes a dramatic difference. I'd say it was a success.

I am 35 miles away from the HD broadcast antennas in a lower lying area. I had an RCA powered antenna on my patio at ceiling level and it did okay except for certain times of the day. I tried another antenna that was highly recommended on Amazon and it worked as well (but no better) than the RCA antenna. However, the new antenna is sitting on my patio "fence" rather than up in the air. I tried the Chaowei High Gain TV Antenna Amplifier Signal Booster on both and couldn'e really tell any difference. It did allow me to pick up more channels (that i don't watch) but the ones I do still have the same issues. Not sure the booster is worth it in my situation. And it showed delivered 24 hours before it was actually delivered. That is frustrating.
