The Gingerbread Man Loose at The Zoo

Cute book to go along with my speech and language lesson

This was the first in the Gingerbread Man series that we tried, and it is great fun. The pacing and rhyming of the book allow it to be a quick read (if this is the inevitable "just one more before bed") and the illustrations and story of going to the zoo also work as a jumping off point if you enjoy leisurely discussing the concepts in the story (a zoo, blue tongue giraffe, riddles, the map). It also came with a poster tucked into the back cover. We did not notice this for the first few days and it was a pleasant surprise. It has a few simple activities on it including some of the images from the book that you then have to put in order.

We got this book as part of the Prime kids book box, and I found this to be a delightful surprise! It's an alternate take on the Gingerbread man, who here is a part of a class of kids on a fieldtrip to the zoo, where all the animals -- you guessed it -- see him as a potentially delicious treat! The teacher sends her class out on a scavenger hunt, and I like that the gingerbread man comes off as just another student--albeit with certain differences and physical disadvantages (like being small) that my that my three-year-old recognizes. Luckily he's a smart cookie and, when he gets lost (and almost eaten) he uses his wits to find his class again. Fun rhymes, hilarious illustrations, and exciting stakes.

My 2.5 year old loves this! He finishes all the rhymes and demands to read this book. My husband and I enjoy reading it too. Our first of this series, but definitely not our last.

My 5 year old son absolutely loved this book. It is fun and interactive. It was a big hit at home, specially during the holidays.

Life gift of giving for grandchildren found in books. My daughter says they read every night before bed, just as I did with all my children.

My child Loves this book since we received we have read it several times a day. Its funny, definitely a great purchase.

My favorite out of the whole series - they can be a little more primary, but this version seemed to be more enriching with strong vocabulary and great rhymes.
