How large are the pieces of glitter, approximately?

The pieces are round about the size of a pinhead.

Does this still sparkle if there is a top coat of some sort of sealer applied over it to keep it place without falling off and making a huge mess?

I spray card with gitter with a couple coats of spray acrylic sealer. Gloss. It never shows, but things don't fall off and paint and ink and foil don't come off. I put it on the porch on some newspaper and hold the can over it about 12" up and spray over it and let it fall. Do that a few times. It takes more coats and more sealer, but it you don't point the can at the paper it doesn't drip or blotch. You never see the sealer on there. It just does it's job.

Would I be able to top this of with spray paint underneath is it translucent ? I want to make unicorn mason jars

Yes the color will come through as long as you don't "overdo" the glitter. I don't know if this helps but you should add food color to the glue...pink...and that eliminates the sprat paint. Try one...

Could this be added to clear wall paint for a top coat or is it too heavy/chunky?

I purchased the purple version. I used it to cover the bottom of a ceiling fixture. I used thinned out white glue to adhere it to the board. It worked on my horizontal application, but it wasn't as color fast as I was hoping. I remember the price being great, but I would recommend something manufactured for your application. I browsed for "wall paint glitter" and found options.
