It's basically plastic wrapping with adhesive on one side, and threads running through the whole thing to give it some extra stability. It is NOT airtight or watertight. It IS water resistant and will remain stuck even underwater. It is NOT a suitable substitute for electrical tape or proper electrical terminations and caps. It WILL leave a residue on any surface after you peel it off. Sticks to: glass, metal, wood, CLEAN brick or stone, plastic. Less good for, but still sticks to: paper, painted surfaces (but it will probably ruin your paint when it comes off). Not good for: any surface covered in dirt, dust, oil, grease, flour, etc
