Jorid Linvik's Big Book of Knitted Mittens: 45 Distinctive Scandinavian Patterns [Linvik, Jorid] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Jorid Linvik's Big Book of Knitted Mittens: 45 Distinctive Scandinavian Patterns Review: What amazing and fun patterns! - After making my first couple of stranded knitting hats, I jumped into Jorid Linvik's Book of Knitted mittens and I haven't looked back! The ones in the photos are for my granddaughter, who loves rainbow colors. I've made the Little Bird mittens, and the adult bird mittens, the beautiful snowflake like pattern in cream and blues and I'm just starting on some owl mittens. I want to make the polar bears and the moose. There's also little fox ones. Jorid does a wonderful job explaining how to get various mitten sizes by changing needle size, her charts are super easy to read, helpful tips throughout, and the patterns are just SO cute! These take time, and the thumbs can be a bit fiddly if you've never made mittens before, but all the detail makes it worthwhile. If you want to learn how to make stranded mittens, this is the book to buy! Review: Good patterns - As long as you're an experienced knitter, this book is great - I've made several of the patterns. I added a lining so they would be warmer

Probably not for newbies, but a great addition to a budding designer or colorwork fanatic's library
Well written with beautiful charted designs. There is a lot of very useful info on gauge/size changes. However, if you are a newbie knitter or haven't done colorwork before or are a "blind follower" (to quote Elizabeth Zimmerman) tread lightly. This may not be the book for you. Still reading this review and a newbie? Make a tubular swatch using just the hand portion of one of the patterns (no thumb) before you jump into a pair of gloves. The swatch can become a small bag or a mug cozy and by the time you are done with it you will know a LOT about what it takes to get wearable mittens from YOUR yarn. Go for it!

If you knit mittens, you need this book!
I am an avid knitter and this is the best mitten book since one my mom gave me when I was a young knitter back in the '60s. You will find that this book has a mitten design for everyone who deserves hand-knitted mittens. I began with the birds, have moved to the fish, and will go for the polar bears next. Instructions are easy to follow, interesting to read (really, the methods behind sizing are well-explained). Photos clear and concise. Thank you, Jorid Linvik!

Beautiful patterns
Good instructions. Would be easier if each line was numbered.

Great bang for buck - wonderful color charts
Very impressive. It has lots of high-quality charted designs. I have not knitted them yet, but see no issues with the patterns. I suspect what most people will buy this for are the color-work diagrams, which are clearly presented. I usually buy pattern books and think I might just knit one or two items, if I'm lucky. With this I could see myself knitting several of these patterns, AND using the color-work designs in other projects. I also like that they include templates at the end to help you create your own designs. I really feel I've gotten my money's worth!

Awesome pattern books with incredible choices!
I adore this book of patterns. Once I ordered it, I could not wait to start knitting. The only problem was choosing which ones to knit first. I have now made five different mitten sets and am getting ready for my next pair. The directions are clear and easy to follow. I am very happy with my purchase!

Also einfach dranbleiben.

Fabulous book, plenty of designs and very easy to follow. It might look a bit daunting to some beginners but hang in there, I've been knitting 30 years and still went Eeeeek!! at the sight of double pointed needles being used, but the results are good and the designs are quirky, fascinating and inspirational.
