Will not work during the day and definitely not a Grote light
Due to the sun load sensor not having a switch, it will not work during the day. I bought 2 of these, 1 to torture test for the review and 1 to use at work. It’s is well made to its price point. It is sealed and still worked after soaking with a garden hose for 2 hours. The magnet is decently strong. I drove 10 miles down the roughest dirt road i could find at 35mph with the light stuck vertically to the tailgate on my Jeep… after 10 miles it had only slid down 1 inch. Put it on the top of my Jeep and it held fast for 10 miles on the freeway at 70mph. I could not disassemble this light (the lens is glued down as part of its sealing) to tell you what the internal components are made from and since it passed my torture test I’m not going to smash the lens with a hammer to see what’s inside. What I don’t like. The light is not serviceable, you can’t take the lens off and replace the LED.It is not rechargeable, it takes 2 D cell batteries. I bought rechargeable lithium D cells so I will update this review when I know how long they will last me before I need to swap the batteries. There is plenty of room in the light base to convert to a lithium battery pack and add usb charging for those that are handy with electronics which I will be doing in the future but at the moment I am also testing the rechargeable lithium D cells for the review on that product.I don’t like the sun load sensor. There is no switch to turn off the sun load sensor like on a Grote so this light will not work in broad daylight. But since I work at night and this light will be used at night… and it’s 1/2 the cost of a Grote… I will deal with this issue. But if you had planned to use it during the day you are out of luck. I tried everything I could think of to defeat the sensor and to do it would render the light useless….Vulcan, if you are reading this… please instal a switch in the battery pan to turn the sun load sensor off.I don’t like the flash pattern. It flashes 3 times rapidly then for the same amount of time it stays dark, then flashes 3 times rapidly. I would rather it just flashed consistent on/off or cut the time that it’s dark in half.Definitely worth the price and decent build quality. I will update this review when I know how it holds up on my job site.

Does not work for more than a few seconds at at time.
These worked great for 1 day. After that they would not work. We changed the batteries and they will only work when leaning on their side. (We have 2. They both do the same thing.) There is a loose connection somewhere because they will randomly work at different angles and then not anymore after less than a minute. Not worth the price at all.
