They're right. It's a pink shoebox -- mine had clearly been opened before. The doll was tossed in there with some old wadded up piece of tissue paper. If you're giving it as a gift, I recommend rewrapping it yourself once it's delivered.The doll itselfThe body is soft material, the head is vinyl? Soft to the touch but you can't squish it in (not that you would want to.) Cute face, brown/amber eyes, very pretty dark complexion. Definitely not as dark as the picture shows, but when I try to take a pic of it, it comes up lighter than the actual doll.She makes seven responses if you push various parts. And here's where it gets frustrating. She makes sucking sounds when you put the bottle in her mouth. But by golly, I really had to smash that bottle in there to get it completely into her mouth. The binkie goes right in. She giggles when you push her tummy. So far so good. She says hello and bye bye if you push her feet. But, remember I said that the head is soft to the touch but can't be pushed in? The hands and feet are the same material. And adult might be able to do it, but there's no way a little toddler is going to be able to push that foot in hard enough to get a response. And the hands....the ones you "squeeze" to get her to say "Mama" and "Papa"? Those are worse. Two adorable fists the strength of rocks. Not a chance anyone under 8 is going to be able to push those hard little nubs enough to get the sound. I'd seriously consider getting a set of pliers to help. **just confirmed with 14 year old daughter. She could get one of the feet pushed in but none of the others.That said, if I were buying it for a toddler, or want an interactive toy for a child, I'd definitely skip it, because they are going to be very frustrated.
