Delivers more than it costs
When I first saw this model on the web some time ago, I fall in love with it immediately. In my opinion, out of all Khaki Field variants this one has the most balanced and stylish look. Very functional, practical design, but it is not boring or flat thanks to the small details: the red accent on the second hand (as a computer geek this reminded me of a good old IBM ThinkPad with which I think this watch shares some "personality traits"), concentric line pattern on the dial, polished bezel on the brushed case. I loved it so much that I purchased it online without ever trying it on my hand or even seeing it in person. And I wasn't disappointed. The build quality is very good, couldn't find any finish imperfections. Black dial and wide bezel make it seem smaller than it is at 38 mm case width. With my 16 cm wrist circumference I can only appreciate this. The dial has great readability. While the luminescent coating is not the brightest available, you can still read it at 3:00 am even if the watch was only exposed to the dim artificial light during the day. The crown is very big compared to many similarly sized watches. Some people complain that it makes wearing the watch uncomfortable, but this is not in issue for me. On the other hand, it makes adjusting and winding the watch very convenient, so I see it as an advantage. Automatic winding is good enough so that wearing it for approximately 10 hours per day on an office job with limited physical activity gives it enough energy to run till the next day. I have it for almost half a year now, and experienced no problems. It runs at +10..+15 sec/day -- a bit higher than some of the owners have reported, but still well within manufacturer limits. No waterproofing problems: I haven't tried to dive in it, but showers it took easily. This is one of the most affordable watches with a genuine ETA 2824 Swiss automatic movement, yet with no compromise in quality. Highly recommended if you like the look of it.

Outstanding value
I have been thinking about purchasing this watch for months, and finally decided to pull the trigger. Man am I glad that I did. It features a solid ETA 2828-2 movement, which is both robust, and accurate. On average my watch is +2 seconds a day, and the power reserve is as advertised right around 80 hours - Amazing. The aesthetic of this watch is wonderful, in my opinion. It doesn't scream "LOOK AT ME", but upon closer inspection the quality and attention to detail is evident. The crystal is sapphire, albeit not anti-reflective coated, but I really don't mind, in fact I prefer it. It adds something to the watch, but that's just my opinion. You won't have to worry about scratching the crystal much, and it should really stand the test of time. The display back showcasing the movement is a nice touch, and every now and again I like to gaze in wonder at it's marvelous complexity and intricacy. The crown is engraved with an "H" - a nice touch. Adjusting the hands feels solid, and smooth, unlike some cheaper watches. The included bracelet is of very good quality, something I was concerned with as many manufacturers tend to try to save some money in this area. It has solid end-links, and "HAMILTON' engraved on the buckle. My only complaint is that I wish there were more micro adjustment holes, as I'm at the point where if I remove another link the watch is too tight, or add another it is far too loose. It's not bad by any means, just a very minor complaint. Additionally, the date complication is wonderful, where the date will change almost exactly at midnight. With other lower end watches, this will occur at an odd hour. For my 6.5" wrist, the 38mm version was perfect. It's slender and thin height make it very comfortable for me, and I find myself wanting to wear it over many of my other watches. Over all, I am extremely happy with this watch. The attention to detail and bang for buck for what you are getting is hard to find. I would definitely recommend.

Solid watch
First off - The newer versions of this watch are shipping with the H-10 movement instead of the ETA so I have removed a star for the incorrect description. Other than that I am happy. I have been kayaking with the watch on and there has been no dreaded fogging despite the watch getting spashed. The H-10 movement is very accurate - losing less than 2 seconds a day. The watch feels well made although the small face can seem a bit cluttered. A good watch for a decent price though.

Beautiful Watch
I wanted to get a nice, sturdy watch that was tasteful and Hamilton did not disappoint. This watch has a nice weight to it and the bracelet strap has a good wrist feel without being overly chunky or bulky. My only gripe would be that the buckle on the bracelet is very large and cuts off the line of the bracelet, but considering how nicely the watch is constructed, it is forgivable. When I initially opened it up, it appeared much smaller than I was anticipating, so I ordered the 42mm to see which size I would like better. Regardless, it is a beautiful piece and I would recommend. Once I decide on which size I like more, I will have to see how the watch holds up against the test of time. Would recommend for sure.

Solid automatic
This was my second automatic watch after my Seiko SRP. Power reserve is right around 80hrs advertised and timing is around + or - 2 or 3 seconds. It doesn't feel too heavy but it's got a nice weight for how slim it is. I've had this for some time now and do not regret the purchase. It's not super flashy but nice enough to wear for any occasion I think. This goes into my never sell collection of watches. If you can get this for under the current MSRP due to inflation (around 500/600) I think it's great.

Underwhelming
Ok so, I was really excited to buy this watch. It is my third Hamilton, and have been generally pleased with the quality of their watches for the price. I have the 42mm Khaki Field Auto Day Date as well as the Khaki Field Mechanical. I really like both, again just good quality swiss watches. This one, unfortunately, is underwhelming. First, the watch wears slightly smaller than 38mm. Not a huge deal, but something to note. Second, the bracelet feels cheap for a $900 watch. On par with my Seiko 5 which is a third of the price. Bracelet is jingly but not much of an arm hair puller so that's good at least. No on the fly adjustable clasp either. Just overall disappointing, was really expecting more, quality-wise. Also, no AR coating on the crystal. Lume is meh. Better than my Field Mechanical, but not as good as my Khaki Day Date (which was approximately the same price at this Field Auto). I like that it has an in-house caliber and a great power reserve. 100 meters water resistance is also a plus. Overall, it feels cheap and just kind of disappointing. I'll end up keeping it but if you're looking for a good quality field watch, I think a Seiko 5 is much better value with similar specs.

Disappointing product, worse service
Loved the watch when I first received it; it worked well, looked good, and was very comfortable and easy to read. The problems started when I went swimming. Swimming, not diving or other watersports. The watch is rated water resistant to 100 meters, but after a swim, condensation was clearly visible in the watch. I returned it to Watch Warehouse who said that it had a broken crown, they repaired it and returned it to me. All was well until I reached into my fountain to pull out some leaves. Even with an exposure to water of less than one minute, the watch again filled with moisture. This time Watch Warehouse said that water damage was not covered and charged me $95. Either the watch design is unable to keep out water or this particular watch is defective and Watch Warehouse is unwilling to back up its product. Hamilton's warranty does not exclude water damage, so any buyers might want to buy only from a Hamilton authorized supplier to avoid the disappointment of a sports watch which cannot tolerate any water around it.
