Trixie Parla Cat Scratching Post 24.4 Inch - Cat Scratcher with Soft Fabric Covering Base and Durable Natural Jute Rope - Beige

I've never had a cat with claws before, but when I brought in an outside cat, my biggest concern was that he would ruin my furniture. I tried a cardboard scratch thing, but he wasn't interested. I bought this scratch post, and after only a couple times of taking him to it and showing him, he began using it faithfully. I'd give him a treat each time, and now he runs to it first thing in the morning. It's not too big, yet, it's very sturdy and never tips over.

My cat really loves this scratching post! He claws at it every chance he gets. It's very durable and easy to assemble. It's stands about 24 inches tall and is perfectly sized for my adult cat. This is definitely a must have for any cat!

This is our cat's favorite scratching post. We started out with one on one side of the couch, then we got a second for the other side, and now we have a third for another room. Each new one was met with zoomies and enthusiastic claw sharpening. Does this mean our house will transform into a forest of scratching posts? Maybe. On a practical note, it has redirected our cat's scratching from furniture to the sisal wrapped post, thus preventing further damage to our upholstery and rugs. The posts are very easy to assemble. After a year of regular use from one active cat, the posts have held up very well. The beige versions of the scratching post blend in well with our interior - subtle and functional. If your cat doesn't take to cardboard or sisal scratching boards, this may be the answer - it was for us, at least.

Heavy duty post with large base. Seems like a nice post but base is too big for my space.

Our cat had regularly scratched our furniture. She has a big cat tree where all the posts are wrapped for scratching, but if she is in another room... We have tried to train her, but she would "forget" on occasions. We had picked up one in a store. The base was folded in half which needed to be unfolded to assemble and use. The mount screw broke the base, a large washer did not help, it wobbled a lot, and then was never used again. If you look at one of those designs, pass it over. Thankfully, this one is a solid one piece base. We inherited another cat, and there goes the furniture and attempts at training again. Bought two of these. Bases are sturdy and stable and our cats are using them instead of the furniture. I did get some of the sticky plastic sheets for the furniture, and will cover the favorite spots, but these alone have helped. If you can't get the cat to go to the scratching post, put a scratching post where they are. Hope this helps Jim

The cat pole that is offered by the people who sell this one is making a wonderful item. That she is so in love with her scratchy is apparent in the way she is always using the scratchy pole. She has, in all of her life, used the couch after being upset about something she took offence over. I made an appointment to get her claws removed. My husband did a computer search on the side effects of such an operation at her age would be awful for her. She has never done anything like it since that one time she was angry at us, we solved the problem with the product provided for her by the seller of this scratchy post. Thank you for helping us find a way to make sure that we are taking care of her needs and making her happy. Thank you for doing such quality work for our cat, she is extremely special to us and having her take out her frustration with life on my leather couch, declawing Pickles is the most awful way to make sure your cat is not able to scratch your furniture and I heard the facts of the operation she would have to live through would have been awful and hurt her so much that had my husband not looked into it on his time with the computer to get the details of such a vicious thing to do to any animal ever.

This arrived. It came with a base and the scratching post. It didn't contain the necessary screw and allen wrench. So I couldn't install it

I bought this a few months ago and both my cats use it multiple times a day. It’s a little worse for wear but still going strong! I’ll definitely be buying a replacement when the time comes. It was very easy to assemble. Just screwing in the post to the base. And it’s a good size for them to semi stand up, but also be tucked out of the way.

Most of the lower price scratching posts are made for kittens or small cats. I have 3 cats that are longer in length, and 2 of them weigh around 20 pounds. So the typical cheaper scratching post was usually too short for them and they would push it around the room as it was flimsy. This one is a good height and is fairly sturdy, though I do have it pushed up against a piece of furniture just because that's the best placement for it beside my couch where they were trying to scratch. A large cat might be able to push it around or knock it over if they wanted to or were aggressive while scratching. But overall I'm really happy with this product at this price point and I will probably repurchase when it wears out or if I need one for another area of my home.

UPDATE......... 1 YEAR LATER! After a whole year of my hooligan cats tearing the life out of this Trixie scratching pole they have finally worn it out. Other cat scratchers bought previously to this one lasted a few months before the rope was in tatters so, I've just bought a new one for £13.99 only £1 more than last year and still a bargain! One little tip to making it last longer is to regularly turn the pole around (especially if its against a wall or similar) so they don't cause the ropes to break too quickly. ORIGINAL REVIEW - Sept 2012. Its so hard to find a tall-ish scratching post at a reasonable price but this one fitted the bill for my 2 cats that do like to stretch when they excerise their claws! it was really easy to put together & it has a large square base to balance the pole on (my cats are nutters so i put it against a wall!) At 1st the cats wern't too keen on the new smell in the room but after wiggling cat teasers all around the pole over a couple of days during playtime they soon took to it & now use it all the time (you can rub Cat Nip on it too!). I payed £12.99 for this 62cm pole which is soo cheap compared to all of the others on offer (plus i couldn't find another single pole of this height at all!) and i have found it tough, rough & with long lasting potential. very pleased i bought it. arrived quickly as well.

Secondo me molto più resistente di tanti altri. ____ Cercavo da tempo una tiragraffi basso, da poter posizionare accanto al divano ed evitare che il gatto si facesse le unghie sul divano. Tutti quelli usati finora era più bassi, leggeri e con base piccola. Il gatto (di 4 kg) finiva sempre per spostarli, facendoli rimbalzare sul pavimento ad ogni graffio. Questo tiragraffi è più alto, con una ampia base di appoggio e anche più pesante degli altri modelli più piccoli. Rimane quindi al suo posto e il gatto non rischia di tirarselo addosso. Non so dire se avrà una durata più lunga degli altri, che dopo un paio di mesi erano tutti sfibrati della iuta. Mi riservo di modificare la recensione in futuro.
