Carson 3D ED Series 10x42mm High Definition Compact and Waterproof Binoculars with ED Glass, Black (TD-042ED)

After a lot of research, I came across Carson's 3D-ED 10X42 binoculars. I initially intended on purchasing a pair of Nikon monarchs or Bushnell Legend HDs, but after reading testimonials about the tremendous value of these, I decided to give them a try. I'm not an optics expert by any means, but I've looked through expensive glass before. I'm familiar with the outstanding quality put out by Leica and Zeiss from experiences with binos owned by friends and family. In my experience and from extensive research, you get what you pay for in the world of optics. That being said, I can only surmise from trying these out that Carson is aggressively trying to increase their market share in the industry. The quality of this product mirrors that of binoculars that can be twice as expensive. To jump right into it, you're getting binoculars with lots of great qualities: -Multi coated lenses -Phase correction -Completely waterproof and nitrogen filled casing to prevent fogging and internal damage. -Generous eye relief (to the uninitiated this means the eye pieces screw out so you can find a "sweet" spot for the picture) -Excellent field of view at range -HIGH overall build quality -Innovative Bino Armor Deluxe case. I was skeptical, but it's clear a lot of thought went into designing this case. It works like they advertise it to. -Comfortable neck strap and back harness system. I didn't find any other binocular that includes these in this price range. -Included cleaning cloth. This isn't anything more special than what comes with a pair of glasses, but it's still appreciated! -LIFETIME NO NONSENSE WARRANTY. This is huge. Binoculars are expensive and complex tools. One bad drop can result in any pair of glasses requiring repair. It's a great relief knowing that even if I damage these by accident, I'll be covered. The meat and potatoes of this product is the image. I plan to get a lot of use from these for hikes, and to take on vacation to look out at objects from the beach. I haven't put these through the full ringer yet, but the quality can simply be described as fantastic so far. I would describe these as "bright" optics, meaning that they transmit a lot of light. The image is also sharp throughout. This means that you'll see detail not only centered in your view but also on the edges of the view. I haven't really found any downsides yet. You could argue the lack of lense caps is a problem along with the fact that the case isn't completely sealed from dust. This first issue is mitigated by the Bino Armor Deluxe case, given that the two are designed to be used together. Regarding the latter issue, this is easily solved by a ziploc bag when it's on your shelf. BOTTOM LINE: If you're looking in this price range, you'd be crazy not to have these on your short list. If you're looking at more expensive pairs in the sub $1000 range, you'd also be crazy not to entertain the idea of these. Hope this helps!

I was really happy with these Carson 3D's. They were perfect for what I was looking for - good binoculars that were not expensive. I tried many varieties and these performed just was well as the Nikon and other competitors - but I saved at least $100. They worked great at dawn and dusk which was very important to me. I liked the size, the feel of the rubberized coating, and the nice focus wheel movement. I used the neck strap - the case kept coming off and falling in the dirt, so after that happened a couple of times I said forget it and stopped using it - the case wasn't conducive to my deer hunting but I'm not going to ding them for the case because it is a nice design - you can order lens covers from them for free; they should include them in with the box though. They weren't heavy and had a crystal clear bright field of vision. Great value for the price! Great warranty too. I would highly recommend these to the average hunter or outdoors person.

For the Price I give these bino's five stars. The lens quality is comparable to some of the more expensive brands. After a lot of comparisons inside and outside I opted to save some money with these since my gear gets pretty beat up. I was going to go with the vortex diamondbacks due to the lifetime warranty, however since these had the same warranty with better quality picture it was a no brainer! Lets just hope that Carson follows through with their warranty promise. The light gathering ability and crisp image with these will make any outdoorsman happy. I have had these out in the mountains looking at the deer that have come down for the winter. I've been able to test these at many different distances.. the focus is great, the detail is amazing, the power is perfect, and even in dim light these really do a great job! Unless you are in the game for 5-600 dollar binoculars then these carsons are what you need and you wont be disappointed. The fit and feel is awesome. The only thing i find is that there is only one adjustment on the eye pieces and my optimal eye relief falls in between the first setting but luckily the twist up eye pieces stay where i leave them even if not at the middle setting. The case that comes with the binoculars is superb. I like that they give you the harness too but it is a little small even when fully adjusted. The only thing missing is some eye piece covers and objective lens covers. That would have put these binoculars over the top!! But if you keep them in the case then you don't need them. I am in Idaho and it is hard to find these binoculars in the store to compare. That is the reason i am writing this review so you can buy with confidence. But make sure you try many different pairs because comfort is everything when you have to look through a pair of binoculars for a few hours.

Best binoculars ever used and had them for years now. Makes everything so clear its amazing. Also want to add that we have a nice pair of Nikon binoculars and these are better.

Having bought many sub-$100 binoculars over the years, I was very accustomed to more or less the same performance. I thought it was time to see just how different a more expensive set would be, but wasn't willing to spend $600-$1,200 for the experiment. This Carson set received almost universally good reviews, and wasn't a complete wallet buster. They feel solid and substantial in the hands, while the rubberized coating is very comfortable. The focus is smooth and precise, but most important, the images are incredibly bright and sharp. As a bonus, I can keep my glasses on, something that wasn't possible with any of my cheaper binoculars. The binoculars come with a couple of straps, one of which is apparently a shoulder strap. There are absolutely no instructions on how to attach or use these straps, and the shoulder one is not real intuitive--to me anyway. But this is a small gripe. Are they worth the cost premium over "inexpensive" binoculars? I'd say yes, if you use them at least a few times a month, they are worth every penny.

I was very pleased with these binoculars. First, the packaging was very high quality and a lot of pride went into the packaging design and the presentation of the product to the consumer. The binoculars look good and feel good in the hand and feel like solid, high quality instruments. They are easy to hold and the focus knob is ergonomically designed and very smooth. Before purchasing these, I tried Nikon Monarch 5's, Monarch 7's, Steiner Merlin Pro's, and Vortex Diamondbacks. I compared the Carson's side by side with the Monarch 5 and 7 in a variety of lighting conditions and I felt the Carson's suited my needs best, which is mostly night time viewing. The Monarch 7 was just a tad better overall with a wider field of view and slightly brighter image, but the Monarch 7 had a major problem with severe glare from strong lights when viewing during night time, and with the higher price of the M7, that was the determining factor in returning the M7 and keeping the Carson's. The Carson's do have some glare when viewing strong lights at night, but it was not as severe as the Monarch 7. The accessories that come with the Carson's are also very high quality and once again, a lot of attention and pride went into the design of the bino armor case. I did not go into any detail describing product specs since those are on the product website, I just limited this review to my opinion about the product. I was very happy with these binoculars, especially since I compared them to so many others. Overall a great product and I keep saying this, but it was apparent that Carson takes a lot of pride in their product as evidenced by the overall quality of the packaging, product, and accessories. The price also makes these an awesome value!

The Carson 3D ED review. First off let me say I read reviews for 6 months trying to decide which binocular to buy. Mostly because I could only buy a pair once so I wanted to get the best deal for the money. I wanted a pair of nikon monarch 5 binocs so I started reading reviews. As time progressed the name Carson keep showing up and doing slightly better in the reviews. I had never heard of Carson so initially I ignored it and kept reading reviews for nikon, vangaurd, vortex. Bushenll ultra legend hd.....etc. Then I found reviews comparing all of them to each other and the Carsons kept coming out on top overall. Ok, so its time to look at Carson a bit closer. Glad I did!!! After a long struggle with myself, decided to order a pair of the 3D ED 10x42 Carsons. When they arrived I set up my try pod to see if I was gonna be mad with myself...lol...The only thing moving I could find to look at was a group of flying buzzards about 3/4 to 1 mile away. I was amazed when one of the circling birds came into view...the clarity was stark and clear. So clear infact that this one bird had a flight feather sticking straight up in the air 90 degrees to the wing. I could see it with complete clarity. Color was exactly as it should be, with nice clear lines of gray and black. Next was a woodpecker at about 80 yards. The red and white colors were abosolutely true....no blurring at the fringes. Most of the reviews I read said the Carson came into its own at dusk and it does. It really gathers alot of light. I was still able to see into the woods a couple of meters just before it got totally dark from about 250 to 300 meters away. Really glad I decided to go with the Carson binoculars. The only thing I would reccomend to Carson as for Improvements would be a locking diaopter ring and maybe a little better locking detents for the eyepieces. I have not had trouble with either of these but it would put them inline with the mainstream binocs. Give them a try, I dont think you will be dissapointed.

I'm a bird and wildlife watcher and just retired last year and really didn't want to spend $1k to $2k+ on a pair of binos. But, I did want the best optics I could afford that suited my needs. I did a lot of research on these binoculars and how they compared to others in this price range. After reading all the reviews and commentaries from fellow birders, hunters, and sports watchers, I chose to give these a try. WOW! I definitely think I made the right choice. These glasses are awesome, but not perfect. The clarity and quality of the optics is outstanding for their price point. They appear to be very well constructed and comfortable to use. I have used them in various light and weather conditions and they perform very well. I also love the close focus of about 6 feet. They come with an unconditional lifetime warranty from Carson. If I can find any fault with them, it would be the twist-up eyecups not having presets, the lack of some regular lens covers, and the "BinoArmor" case takes a little bit of getting used to, but these are minor gripes. I highly recommend these binoculars.

Great little binocs for the price.

Impressive without considering the price, consider the price point and I don't know why you'd get anything else.

I had a pair of Zeiss binoculars stolen recently and required a replacement, after much research and comparison site checking I came across a review that involved the Carson 10 x 42 3D series. I had never heard of this product before. After reading the reviews that compared the Zeiss 10 x 42 and other similar glasses and the Carson's.I looked into the Carson's a little more closely. The Carson's came out very well. None of those reviewed came out 100% but these were reviewed well. I have only had them 24 hours and I have not, so far been disappointed . They are very clear and sharp and handle well. They appear robust and well made. They are a little larger than my previous pair and slightly heavier but this is not too much of a problem. They come in a very professional looking box and cups for both lenses also two types of straps are also included. The straps are the normal over the head adjustable type and the other is a shoulder strap. I have never used this type before but I am willing to give them a try. The case is a well constructed soft BinoArmor Deluxe binocular wrap. A little different from any previous case I have used as the front folds down and the bins can be used still partially within the wrap. As my previous pair were quite small ,hopefully this may encourage me to keep the bins close to me and not so losable. Price - well the bins I had been researching were all in the £300 to £400 range,whereas these are just over £200. Taking the reviews into account and the price I decided on these on the basis that I had little to lose but so far they compare very well with the more expensive bins I have previously used.

Estos prismáticos son una maravilla. Fáciles de manejar, muy buen diseño, vienen con correa y con arnés, y una funda muy funcional, que permite "enfundar y desenfundar" de una manera fácil y extremadamente rápida, dándole una buena protección al producto en todo momento. Hay que tener en cuenta que estos prismáticos tienen garantía de por vida, cosa que es un plus añadido. La calidad de las imágenes es excepcional, si bien es cierto que para distancias largas pierde calidad, pero es lo que ocurre con cualquier prismático de esta gama. La luminosidad de estos prismáticos es buenísima. En condiciones de poca luz se ve mejor que mis anteriores 10x50. Debido a su funda, no tiene tapas, pero si realmente las ves necesarias, las puedes pedir y te las mandan gratuitamente. A pesar de que indican que la distancia de enfoque mínimo es de 3 metros, lo he comprobado, y los míos se enfocan a una distancia inferior a los 2,40 metros, así que aun es mejor. Estoy muy contento con ellos, y por su culpa tengo ganas de salir a pajarear cada día, cosa que no puedo!! Si no fuera tan escrupuloso, les daría 5 estrellas.

Los binoculares, tienen una buena calidad, en mi caso compré los 10x42 y la verdad los use muy pocas veces pero la satisfacción fue muy grande, amo observar aves así que disfrute mucho usar el equipo. Hoy estaba dando limpieza a mis equipos y me encuentro con una fisura en los lentes de los binoculares, específicamente en el tubo del ocular de ambos oculares. Como dije no los he utilizado mucho y tampoco transportado, esto me deja muy mal sabor de boca. Había utilizado estos binoculares hace unos años y sabía que eran muy resistentes, al parecer ya no los hacen como antes o de plano venían con el daño y no lo note a tiempo. Me siento desilusionada, piénsenlo mucho al hacer esta compra. Si me ayudan a identificar una solución se los agradeceré mucho.
