A 32 oz wide mouth Nalgene fits. The top sticks out but the drawstring snugs up over the curved portion so it should stay in place. It is a snug fit but mine is brand new and if it stretches a tiny bit over time it should get easier to slip it in. **Q: Would this fit a pair of shoes?** A: Only if they were small - i.e. a pair of flip-flops, basic sport sandals, or ladies flats. Highly recommend this one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Overall, just what I needed *by J***P on November 17, 2023* I searched for quite awhile before landing on this molle water bottle pouch. This one seemed to be from a reputable brand, a decent design, and is assembled well enough. My use case is not attaching to a pack but attaching to my molle panels in my Bronco- I use this as an oversized cup holder. For that, it works. I can fit 24oz (~3" dia) insulated bottles no problem. Sometimes I can do this one-handed; other times not (see below). My wife prefers the larger 26, 32, and 40oz (~3.5" dia) bottles. While these bottles fit, they are quite snug and require two hands and a bit of force. It works, but with a couple things to be aware. 1. The molle straps end a ways from the ends leaving the pouch a bit unsupported and floppy. A bit of extra effort on the weave firms it up some but it isn't solid. 2. The opening is unstructured fabric with a drawstring. Bottles easily catch on the drawstring or fold the material in on itself entirely. The fix is to reach in and pull the opening up and out. 3. The snaps that secure the straps are thick and they dictate how much weaving one can do with the straps (the buttons have to line up to lock in). I think any of the following would take this product from good to great: * Improve support of the pouch, perhaps by taking the straps all the way to the edges, both top and bottom. * Improve the structure of the opening, perhaps by offering the option to have a fixed opening adding support to more of the opening. * Improve the flexibility of the attachment, perhaps by ditching the snaps and using velcro instead. I've been experimenting with the opening. I replaced the drawstring with a large hose clamp (70-90mm) to keep the opening from snagging. It absolutely fixed the issue and I can insert my 24oz bottle one-handed, every time. It did narrow up the opening, however. At 88mm (plus the fabric folders), a ~3.5"dia bottle won't go in.
