Great iron and heatgun, makes my life easier
There's several times where I've had dual USB ports broken and needed to replace them. Before I'd done this with a soldering iron and lots of effort, ended up destroying the old USB port in order to get it off the board. The clean up was message and took loads of effort to get the board ready to put the new port in place. Getting this station is a revelation. Whilst I already had the remenants of the old ports to deal with, I wasn't looking forward to the clean up, it was hard and messy with my old iron. Using the heat gun from this station I set the temp to 380C and put on the small nozzle. A few minutes of heating and I was able to use my solder suck to simple pull out the old solder and bits of metal from the old pins without any real effort. This cleaned up the ports fantastically. Using the smallest tip, I was able to make sure that all the holes for the pins were clear and prepared for the new USB Port. This was really easy and quick. Soldering in the new port was a breeze too. During the process I did manage to unsolder a surface mount capacitor. I wasn't paying attention, so reset that in place with the heat gun too. It didn't take much effort, just used the tweezers to hold the component in place whilst I directed the hot air to get the solder to flow and hold everything in place. This is defiantly the best iron and heat gun that I've used. This has already proven itself to me to make my life easier for soldering and desoldering boards for repair. Well worth the money, and I love the control the temp and airspeed settings give.

Good bit of kit at a good price.
Super kit, works well. Easy to use and well made as far as I can tell I have had a lot of trouble finding spare tips for the iron but, after several purchases saying they were compatible I got some.

Great value and well designed.
This is a reasonably priced unit with a nice set of accessories. The controls are straightforward with a main physical power switch on the side, separate software (momentary contact) on/off buttons for the SMT heat gun & soldering iron and separate up/down push buttons to set the temperature of each. Clear, independent temperature displays or the gun & iron show the preset as you set it and revert to actual temperature after you stop adjusting. The cables to the gun & iron are tough but flexible and long enough for most bench layouts. The heat gun has a dial for air flow speed and magnet in the heat gun holder interacts with a sensor in the gun to drop the temperature to 100ºC when cradled. After a minute or two in the holder the fan stops until you pick it up again at which point the fan restarts and the gun returns to the chosen preset temperature. The fan also stays on when you turn the gun off until the temperature has dropped back to 100ºC. Three sizes of nozzle provide a choice of coverage vs accuracy - the smallest is good for rework and the largest is good for heat-shrink or board pre-heat. The iron comes with a reasonable selection of bits and is comfortable in hand. The iron stand has a sponge well with a silicone rim, wire foil ball for solder removal & a solder spool holder. A small spool of solder, a solder sucker, some braid & a pair of SMT tweezers means you're ready to go out-of-the-box. Very good value for money so far.

Better than expected
Excellent quality product. I have been using it for about a month now and am very pleased with its performance. Came with an excellent variety of soldering and ironing tips. The hot gun is also excellent. What I like most about this product is that I can replace the soldering iron with a new one if it ever breaks or wears out. The last similar station that I had did not have this feature and when the ceramic heating element broke the only option I had was to replace the whole unit. The cables on the unit, the hot gun and the soldering Iron are also just the right length, not too long, not too short. Both the heat gun and the soldering iron heat up very quickly. Highly recommend this product.

Outstanding
Outstanding soldering station. It heats up almost instantly, holds the temperature well, and the hot ait gun is silent and effective.

Impressed.
I've had a few solder stations over the years and all have had something that annoyed me about them. I've used this quite a bit now and I can say that it's not got any of the annoying problems the others had. I just love the fact that whilst you are using / moving the iron (I believe it is a mercury style switch inside) it doesn't go to sleep - this was an annoyance on my old station that you had to press a button to wake it. It doesnt take very long from sleep mode to full temperature at all, a matter of a few seconds. The heat gun having auto start and stop when lifted out of the cradle is great. I havent used this for SMD work as I primarily wanted into for heatshrink so cant comment on its use for that. The only thing I feel let's the station down a little is the feel of the plastic used, however considering this station has the same features that some really expensive stations have I'm not complaining! UPDATE: After 6 months of regular use (at weekends) this has stood the test of time. It is such a pleasure to use compared to my old, more expensive, solder station. The station still functions perfectly. I complained about the feel of the plastic used before and I stand by that. I have two more things that I feel should be altered.. The first is that if you not paying attention when placing the soldering iron back in its stand it can fall out - this is because of the slot that is in the back of the stand - it is there to make it easier to get the iron in and out but ive knocked it out a few times.. The other is that when the station is on my desk the power lead is barely long enough to reach the floor. If it is plugged into the socket at desk height / on the desk it would be fine but my power socket is underneath the desk.

Exceeded my expectation
I bought this station at a discounted price. It arrived within a few days and when I got it up and running I was absolutely delighted with it. The quality is great, holding the iron and hot air gun are both very comfortable and feel solid. It reached the selected temperature almost immediately. Can't fault this piece of kit at all. Really delighted with it.
