Are the wires just plastic tubes, or is there wire under the plastic?

There's wire under the plastic coating.

What are the needle sizes? I am in in need of an 11 & a size 13.

The bright blue size L/8.0mm is an 11, I used my Knit check gage to measure and the light Violet M /9,0mm=13 us.

How is the extension used? The ends are the same.
