Great album from the Nelson brothers. I have seen them twice now on their ricky nelson remembered tour, but wish they would be out singing this stuff again. The title of this album is appropriate, since this album is a "second strike" at the "after the rain" sound. The brothers took many different turns in their musical progression after their big success, and unfortunately due to the record companies and the shift that occurred as they broke big, they got shoved off in the sidelines. I have many of their other albums I have collected here and their. This album is really a capture of the old sound that made them successful. The harmony and the mixing would make you think circa 1991 all over again, without the hair though. very much worth getting if you like classic nelson.

So I downloaded the new "Lightning Strikes Twice" today and was pleasantly rewarded with a solid 58+ minutes of great melodic rock. Good writing, great hooks and the harmonies that make you remember why you liked them in the first place 20 years ago. This is not a nostalgia act or record by any means. It will hold up to todays standards if you like artists who can really play and sing. The guys have a website that really says it all....Nelson Kicks A**.com I wholeheartedly agree!

I just bought this cd altho i did my first listen of the sound bites on another site.this one has wrong songs listed these are for another album and are wonderful song if you dont already have it.Lightning strikes Twice is an awesome cd every song on it is a good one so you wont be holding the remote LET IT PLAY.Thank you Matthew and Gunnar Nelson for the new music no pun intended but I can hardly wait.

I was so excited when I heard the Nelson brothers were coming out with an album that is back to their original rock and harmony style from "After the Rain"! They do not disappoint! These two are a unique sound that can not be duplicated. They put their best out there for us to enjoy again! Thanks guys!

I love music, but have often been disappointed when purchasing a CD by finding that the song I purchased it for was one of the few good songs on the CD. Not so with this CD. Every song on it is fantastic. There is a great mixture of songs, and Gunnar Nelson's voice is outstanding. The vocal harmony and the blend of the instruments are perfect. Couldn't be happier. It rocks. A++++++

Lorsque Frontiers Records, spécialisé dans l'AOR classieux, publie ce « Lightning strikes twice » en 2010, nous n'avions plus eu de nouvelle discographique des frères Gunnar et Matthew Nelson depuis 10 ans. Les deux frangins se chargeant des voix et de l'essentiel des guitares et basses, toujours bien épaul&eacutes musicalement, avaient obtenu un succès légitime en 1990 avec « After the rain » et sorti par la suite 6 autres opus, moins convainquants, mais toujours marqués du sceau de la qualité. Voici un retour plus que gagnant avec les ingrédients qui font l'intérêt du duo à savoir : une double qualité vocale exceptionnelle, un sens de la mélodie léchée impressionnante, une façon toujours admirable de superposer les guitares saturées, claires, voire acoustiques, une production idoine et une capacité ingénieuse à alterner les rythmes. L'album oscille entre les mid-tempos FM imparables comme « Call me » qui ouvre l'album, « How I can miss you » un tube en puissance à l'introduction magnifique et au refrain remarquable, le langoureux « You're all I need tonight » ou le Bon Jovien « When you're gone » et les titres plus rock et festifs comme « Day by day » aux choeurs éclatants, « Come », « In hit for the money » ou le survitaminé « Ready, willing, and able ». Signalons une émouvante balade « To get back to you » gratifiée d'un solo de Steve Lukather. Passons sur les dispensables « Take me there » truffé de violons et la power balade téléphonée « Change a thing », pour finir sur un lourd et ambitieux « Kickin' in my heart around ». De l'excellence à tous les niveaux.

Wow !!! it is many years since their first album and that was a great record. Then in my opinion the second album was far removed from their original roots i gave it to the charity shop after 3 plays. Now they are BACK. This should have been their follow up album. From start to finish this is power, good time rock at its best. Fantastic melodies, sing a long chorus's and brilliant sang crafting and musicianship.This is stadium anthem rock at its best. if i were blasting down the highway with the sun blazing... this album would be ideal... It has that feel good factor... music as it should be.... Rock On !!

Aah those heady 80's days, big rock music and bigger hairdtyles, they say that decade wasn't too hot for rock music but there was some magic about (Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Poison, and more). And then there was Nelson with the epic, "After The Rain", terrific melodic rock with more hooks than a riverbank full of fishermen! The Nelson twins hair may be shorter these days but these guys ooze class, "Lightning Strikes Twice" is all killer no filler, a fantastic rock album that could easily have been the follow up to, "After The Rain". Brilliant, just brilliant, go out and buy it NOW!!!
