IT'S BRIGHT, RIGHT, and a DELIGHT!
Nice little flash light if you need an IR illuminator. I used it for testing of security cameras and night vision devices (binoculars, camera, etc.). It shoots out the equivalent of maybe a 800 lumen light (in IR of course, you can't see it without a device - and how the device processes the illumination may vary - but 800ish seems about how I feel it would appear if it were visible light). When on, there is a slight red glow. Even though it's 940nm it's still fairly obvious. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0785W2RQQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I bought a couple of these and they produce no visible lighting - but this flashlight does. I bought for testing security cameras...so if you need it for more covert purposes you should get something that isn't quite as visible in the red spectrum of visible light. Of course...that red is because of how bright the illuminator flashlight is. As for durability...honestly it's very identical to other 'similar economy level aluminum housing flashlights' - it's not bad...I'm not saying its bad...but if you've ever held a good quality flashlight then you know what I'm talking about...this isn't going to hold up to overly demanding impact and/or abrasive situations. For me, it's perfect though - I can't speak to longevity because I haven't had it long and only used it a few times (testing devices). It brightly illuminates my living room...and for yucks I shot it across a field...and as you'd expect my cameras were all able to see it as if you were shining around a normal flashlight, just in non-visible IR. I am really happy with the purchase. And I'm not knocking the quality - for what I paid ~20ish it's absolutely worth it - but I wouldn't risk mounting it to a firearm...and I wouldn't risk it were the tasks 'life critical' - I'm not saying it is bad...just not good enough that I'd trust my life/mission to it. Still, for a homeowner and for the price, excellent!

Lies and slander in the visible spectrum
Claims to be a 940nm IR LED light, but upon turning it on, it's actually an 850nm LED. This product is more expensive than 850nm marked units, but the light source is actually the exact same and completely nullifies the purpose of buying such a thing. For those unaware, 850nm is visible to the human eye, while true 940nm is not.

MUCH Better Than Expected
This light literally illuminates like a high-powered flashlight, except in infrared. At 35 feet it's putting out so much infrared my camera had to stop the aperture down to prevent over-exposure. I need to do some night-time non-flash photography. Luckily, my Sony camera has built-in infrared capability. It even has infrared lights to illuminate the scene. They work to about 4 feet. After that they're far too weak to light anything up. I needed something to put out infrared, but I didn't want it to be visible. After some research I chose this llight. It had the right infrared spectrum, took the right battery, and looked cool. Plus it has beam focus capability. Now I was figuring an infrared illuminator would mostly be a scam. Sub-par quality, low output, and the light would be visible. Not this light. The infrared light source glows ever so sligthly. It is hardly noticeable to the naked eye, and its much less visible than the camera's built-in low-output infrared lights. I thought I was going to have to go old-skool and dig out some WWII army infrared IR lamps I've got. Thanks to this pocket beast, I don't have too. Now wish me luck that my photo subject cooperates.

Not very bright.
Works ok but not really any brighter than the IR illuminator on my NVG monocular. Also has a blacked out square in the middle of the beam when zoomed out. Not very impressed but you get what you pay for.

The Dark Side of Tech
This product works really well, quite happy with it. The illuminator on my NV does okay but struggles at a distance. This does an admirable job, better than the illuminator, when not being focused. Focusing makes it a really high intensity beam. I was surprised it didn’t come with a battery or instructions so wasn’t sure what it took. Based on the voltage, diameter and length I thought a 18650 might work. I popped one in and, after a moment, smelled ozone and the light wasn’t coming on. Flipped it around and it worked like a charm. Wish it had instructions but, besides that, it works really well.
