Over 150 years ago, Antonio Mattei, a baker and pastry cook from Prato, opened his biscuit factory and store: he's the father to the extraordinary and most famous Tuscan cookies "Cantucci" (mainly known as Biscotti in the U.S.): twice-baked golden, crunchy cookies, studded with whole almonds, most often served with a glass of Vin Santo dessert wine, called Cantucci To explore new flavors and expand its horizon, in 2001 "Deseo" brand was founded and started offering more modern confections and recipes. Deseo is innovation and the natural evolution of Mattei ancient family tradition. However, the guidelines behind the Deseo production are the same on which Antonio Mattei's cookies factory was based: the use of top-quality ingredients, only natural flavorings, traditional cooking methods, applied to new products and flavors, featuring a sophisticated and modern packaging and ongoing experimentation.
