amazing game changer
my previously white car-hair covered apartment is NO MORE. i would vacuum as normal several times per week but my apt was so covered in dust and cat hair. the dust comes from outside when i frequently have my windows open for fresh air. (with screens of course) but my grandkids were allergic to all that cat hair. so this Roomba- i love it.My entire apartment was vacuumed thoroughly the first day. but i find as Roomba explores more and more i’m actually tossing out stuff/random things which i don’t need because i love how clean my apartment is now. it’s only been a week. I ran the roomba several times a day at first to try it out. It doesn’t get stuck much unless it’s my fault like too many toys on the living room floor. Wow, so under my bed is amazingly so Clean! no more dust bunnies. it’s incredible. Roomba also pushed light objects around and i get them off the floor. it’s pretty quiet for a vacuum. i don’t bother using my large vacuum anymore. maybe just for if i need a long hose for any reason.I highly recommend! everyone and anyone considering it, to GET ONE. My whole family is literally breathing MUCH easier and now my kids can visit a clean and dust free apartment. and they are impressed and amazed and they live grandmas new apartment. the carpet looks amazing like it’s been vacuumed in beautiful “straight lines” where possible. it adapts to you moving furniture and things around also. it doesn’t need light. i love watching it vacuum around while i do other things.

Does it’s job
The first two times I used this roomba, it didn’t clean everything. The first time, I used it with a partially full battery. I left while it was charging and when I returned, it had “completed the job”. But it was obvious it didn’t hit the bedroom or living room. The second time, it got stuck under a chest of drawers in the bedroom, then spent 20 minutes “looking for home”. I had to carry it to the base in order for it to find it. It never vacuumed the living room, dining room and part of the bedroom. The third time I used it, I made sure it was fully charged, and blocked the chest of drawers so it couldn’t go under it. The roomba seemed to spend a lot of time wandering around the house, returned once to empty the bin, and once to recharge. But, it completed every room and did a bang up job of it. All I really have to do is make sure everything is picked up off the floor and all electric cords are not hanging down onto the floor. Also to block off the area under the chest of drawers. I’m looking forward to the next scheduled cleaning. Currently, I’m cleaning three times a week, but I may cut down on that after a few weeks. Depends on how much I like the clean floors!

TRUST ME: it will be easier to just spend 25 min a day vacuuming
I started out with a two-star review, but I then revised my rating to ONE...one year later I can't believe this company is still in business ZERO STARSThis company has an evil plan to turn vacuuming into a subscription service. Another app that steals your data and demands constant attention on your phone. This thing seriously never works. I have an 1800-square feet hard-wood floor and this thing has NOT A SINGLE day cut the mustard. it has taken over as literally the number one notification I get on my phone. I'm at band rehearsal trying to concentrate and BOOM this thing buzzes and needs to tell me "A job can not be completed". By the way that's what they should have called this thing the "job cannot be completed" from irobot because get ready that is the notification you will see by far the most.Literal daily example trials with this machine:1. It will be in the middle of vaccuming and just stop, turn itself off, and sit listless in the middle of your floor - no explanation - until you move it back to its base to recharge, even though this is not what was advertised2. When you move it back to its base it takes a few hours to recharge which may interfere with its own schedule, thus once in a while you will lose track of where the vacuum is in its work cycle and suddenly at the most inopportune time (such as when the children are asleep) it will empty its own bag (loudly), so this thing has to constantly be babysat and attended to, just another electric device in my house demanding my attention. If the children are asleep i have to manually stop it and flip it on its back so it doesn't find its way back to its base and wake up the children by emptying its dust bin.3. This thing insists on giving me insignificant daily alerts such as "a job was completed", "a job cannot be completed", "roomba is stuck"., or "roomba rebooted", all things that if i'm home i can discern I don't need to blowing up my phone. I don't want my life to revolve around a vacuum but I can tell you after owning this thing for one month it literally needs daily maintenance and I wonder if it would be LESS worth my trouble to just vacuum myself.it only works on hard wood floors or tile. If you have carpet or any rugs you will have to vacuum them manually. If your entire house is carpeted then don't buy it you will be sorry. As for how well it works on smooth floors:Forget about convenience. It works when it wants to. Wanna set it to vacuum the house as you are leaving for the day? Forget it. You open the app and get the "waiting to connect" message indefinitely - even if you turn your phone off and back on, reboot the app, uninstall it. It just doesn't matter. The manner in which it works is pure voodoo...it works whenever it feels like it despite my HI-speed internet connection.I literally have to reboot the entire machine every day just to get it to work how it's supposed to.-Setting up the machine: was a headache because it will only work with a 2.5ghz internet connection. If you don't know how to change that setting on your router (which I didn't, the WIFE just so happened to remember how to do that from when we bought the router) then you might as well not buy it, there is no way around this and no helpful instructions to help you with your own router either.Overall the machine works about 60 percent of the time. I have had it a week and still not ONCE been able to wake up, set it and forget it, leave and come back to a clean house. It takes several days (supposedly) to map out your house but trying to label and then get it to vacuum individual rooms is a complete fools errand. Won't work. I exclusively use the "vacuum everywhere" command as it's the only thing that seems to work.It takes two and a half hours for it to vacuum my house which is a normal sized kitchen, large dining room and living room, two bathrooms, and three bedrooms. It will only work when I am at home and can supervise it as it needs constant supervision. It gets stuck all the time. This is the only way to get a vacuumed house because, again, it just won't work when I need it to. I have taken to every once in a while just opening the app at random and seeing if it says "ready to vacuum" then I feel like buying a lottery ticket. That's my experience. Overall not very impressed. after I owned it for one year the cleaning head module needed to be replaced. AFter one year in production the irobot company does not offer for purchase the cleaning module that i need

Pretty good
First - I’m an automation-avoider. But… life is busy and my wife gets overwhelmed with all the dust and dog hair. We have our fair share of clutter around the house so I wasn’t sure how it would handle. The Roomba exceeded my expectations. We have 2 long-haired dogs. They shed. It gets crazy. The Roomba does ok overall. Sometimes the rollers get wound up with dog hair. We pull them out, unwind, and carry on.The Roomba also will just stop working every month or so. I take her to the garage and blow all around with the air compressor to clear the dust from the sensors. Good as new, she’s back to work. The Roomba also gets hung up on some spots around our house. We adapt and block-off areas, tip over chairs, etc.Is it perfect? No. Can something of this size be perfect? I don’t think so. Overall, it’s an improvement vs. manually sweeping daily. We do need to give our unit some maintenance, around once per month. But if you are reasonably capable, I think it’s a good investment. I even bought one for my 80-year old parents. I do a FaceTime occasionally with them to work through issues, but I feel much better having the Roomba work under the beds and couches compared to my elderly parents. I think it’s been positive for all of us.
