I needed fettling knives to cut out pieces in my pottery. Using a needle tool works but displaces the clay a little more than a fettling knife. These are both great. The smaller knife was too sharp for me but probably good for another person less prone to accidents than I am, lol. So I dulled it a bit on a metal file so it was more like the larger knife. Easy fix.

Great for rough-in blocking of sculpture and fine details.

These work great. I prefer to use the longer one for slicing and the shorter for carving. Sharp enough for clay but I don’t have to worry about cutting myself,

The small one has pins through the handle making it a good knife. The big knife does not have any thing holding it into the handle and after time it slips out and you have to keep putting it back in.

These pottery knives are very handy and sturdy. They have a nice edge and cut well. Very useful for my purposes.
