Definite upgrade from the 35mm f1.7 CCTV.
Needed something to pair with my Fujifilm X-E1 with a 50mm equiv. focal length, fast aperture, and good build quality all while not breaking the bank. This lens fit the bill perfectly. If you're expecting the same IQ as the similar Fujian/Fotasy 35mm f1.7 CCTV lens, you're in for a big surprise. While the old CCTV lens was fun to shoot with, the soft, smudgy edges at times left something to be desired. This lens from Meike is a different beast altogether! Very robust build quality with practically all-metal construction all the way down to the lens cap! The focus throw is smooth and the clickless aperture makes it great for video. Corners are sharp and not at all like the CCTV version. Just under a stop of vignetting can be seen as well as some fairly heavy barrel distortion, both of which can be corrected. Don't forget, this is an all-manual lens which means it does not talk to the camera and you will need to manually enable the "shutter release without lens attached" function in your camera's menu before shooting. Pros: -all-metal construction -nice chrome lens mount -includes metal lens cap and proper rear plastic cap -fast aperture -very good image quality -renders colors quite well -comes with a nice protective pouch Cons: -manual focus only, no electronics -vignetting at large apertures -heavy barrel distortion (correctable) -the Meike brand as a whole can be hit-or-miss -fixed lens mount so if you also shoot Sony you'll need to buy the E-mount version I highly recommend this lens for its price-to-performance ratio. It offers great build quality and features at an attractive price. It's a great walk around lens that you can keep glued to your camera. It's essentially the body cap for my old trusty X-E1.

Great Budget Prime Lens for Fuji X-T20
I wanted a prime lens with a big aperture to learn and grow using the XT20. I was very pleasantly surprised with this lens' quality, from build to photo quality, especially at the price range. The build feels solid, having a heavy metal feel to it instead of the cheap plastic feel. The picture quality was great, I am not a professional photographer and I consider my self amateur at best, but I was happy with the initial picture quality. If you are looking for a cheap prime lens with a big aperture and do not mind shooting manually, pick this one up and give it a try. If anything, it will teach you how to use a prime lens before you make the leap into more expensive prime lenses out there.

A fun little manual lens
I had a lot of fun using this little lens. I wasn't expecting much but what a surprise that you can find quality in an inexpensive lens. Is it the best, no, but you don't go in expecting that. You are still capable of capturing wonderful images nonetheless. Overall, I'd say it worth the buy.

1st prime for my X-T20 & new life for my X-A1
Cat picture: X-T20, 1/80 f1.7 ISO500 Camera picture: X-A1, 1/90 f1.7 ISO3200 I bought this for my X-T20 as my first prime lens. Quality is great but maybe not quite as sharp as the kit XF 18-55 lens - but this is only of you are looking at the pics zoomed in on a pc and being picky. With that said, my 5 stars is based on an amateurs perspective. The best was yet to come: after I cleaned up my old X-A1, I am in love with the A1/35mm f1.7 combo. It's such a compact, bare bones combo with the ability to shoot in super low light and delivers quality shots. If you can find a used X-A1 body for $100-200 and stick this lens on it, you won't regret it.

For the money, its an awesome lens
Update: 3/13/19 Been loving this lens so far. Performs well, still feels solid and images have been coming out great. Purchased a universal 49mm hood for it. If you have money to blow, then go buy yourself a AF lens. If you don't mind saving money and don't plan on shooting moving subjects, this lens is a must. Its a decent lens for the price. Center can be very sharp between f4 and f8. Then toward the edges it starts getting a little soft. The focus ring is smooth. Aperture ring is also smooth, with no clicks. Sadly the aperture goes from f8 to f22 in such a short micro twist, so good luck figuring out anything in between. I do enjoy this lens. For the price it does very well. Cons: would be nice if a hood is included. Pros: Decent Optics, solid build, Low price

I would not make this your only lens. Its is FANTASTIC for portrait shots. Anywhere between F1.7-F4 is great. However above that you start gettin ga crazy vingette. Great lens for the price, but understand what the limitations are
