Perfect replacement for 996
If you are getting tired of having your front trunk lid fall on your head these replacements hood lifts are the perfect solution.- Project time: Less than 30 minutes- Difficulty level: Easy- Required tool: Small flat screwdriver- Optional lubricant: Grease (or WD40)- Steps: (1) Lift up the front hood and secure it using a long stick (I used a broomstick). Make sure that this support is securely positioned, as the hood will hurt if it falls on your head. (2) Starting with one side, use a small screwdriver to pry out the top hood retainer clip. (3) Pop the hood lift off of the top pivot ball that is attached to the chassis. (4) Remove the bottom retainer clip of the lift in the same manner. (5) Use a rag to clean the pivot balls from the old grease and accumulated dirt. Optional: Apply new grease (or WD40) to the pivot balls. (6) Replace the new lift in the same place and orientation that the old was in by snapping it into place (no need to remove the clips first). (7) Once one side is completed, repeat the same procedure on the other side.There are plenty of tutorial videos available. Just look for "996 replace hood struts".

Absolutely terrible on Porsche 996
These struts could not hold the front bonnet/hood up on a factory 996 Carrera. There was also resistance opening the hood with these in place. Purchased Stabilus units and the car is back to normal.Buyer beware. Glad I bought on Amazon as the return process is easy.

Perfect fit, easy to install
