This palm nailer is great, although it takes a little while to get used to. I used it to nail in some rafter tie downs on the roof of a firewood shed I was building. The tie downs took 35mm nails so I had to be very careful as I was loading them in as they are below the recommended size. The magnetic tip is great, would be great if there was a lockout mechanism so I could be less worried about disconnecting it every time I moved it from tie down to tie down.

For tight spots between joists, this is the nailer you need. It will handily drive 3.5" framing nails (Ardox, spiral galvanized) with little effort but lots of air. It makes such a good companion to a MCN (metal connector nailer) that the carrying case for many MCNs has a spot for a palm nailer.A framing nailer, if you can get it into position, hits the nail once and you're done. This thing hits it maybe 100 times. Not much progress per hit, but the nail smoothly and quickly slides into the wood... until it hits a knot. In that case, the nail stops advancing and starts bending. Oops. It pays to have a look, if you can, before you place the nail.The magnet in the hollow cylinder surrounding the piston will do a good enough job of letting you start a nail one handed, but you will want to start relatively slowly until the nail has gone deep enough to be on a stable trajectory. Then you can push a little harder and be done in a second or so.It takes a bit of practice to feel how deep the nail has seated, but after a dozen of any kind of nail you can move fast by feel. If you get excited and really push on the thing, it will make a real mess of the wood surrounding the sunken head. Oops.

Feels well madeUpdate!I removed the leaking swivel connection and replaced it with a straight connector. This along with a coiled hose, solved the problem. I really shouldn’t have had to do this, but it seemed a simpler thing to do than sending it back for a replacement. I hope when Amazon read this they will compensate me in someway. We will see. :)
