It works great for bottles and cans so they don't tip. **Q: can these be used in refrigerator? my frig has wired shelves and everything falls and won't stand up?** A: It doesn't say anywhere on the packaging that it works in a refrigerator, and we have never tried using it in a refrigerator. We do have customers who have tried it and it did work for them. **Q: Is the plastic slippery? I want to put books on it and don't want them falling all the time.** A: Yes. It is slippery actually more smooth but if you put something heavy against the book they should be fine. Or one end of a bookend. **Q: Are they sturdy enough to add a stepped wire shelf to hold cans without the shelf slipping through wire gaps?** A: Yes most definitely! I have canned goods holders on them myself with no problems. We are in a rental and so we needed an inexpensive way to cover them as they were messing up musical equipment we stored on them and boxes were sticking to them...yuck. We had tried othere types of liners, but this one we like the best. It comes in both 12 and 16 inch width. It is very durable and it has these tabs that you can put into the wire shelving to keep the liner from moving about. That has proven an ingenius solution to the liners moving and getting out of place.
