Great Above Ground Pool Cleaner!
I had an Aquabot Breeze XLS and the power supply went out. So I decided to try something different and order this Dolphin.... oh my goodness! The difference it makes is amazing! The Aquabot is a lot messier to use and doesn't pick up nearly the debris that this Dolphin does! Plus the Aquabot has 2 baskets and they don't go in to the cleaner part smoothly and you have to put cloth bags inside the baskets in hopes that it will pick the fine debris up... but it doesn't and what it does pick up pretty much comes out when you lift it out of the water. NOT so with the DOLPHIN... it picks up the finest particles just using the basket that came with it and when you lift it out of the water nothing goes back into the water but water! YAY! And, clean up is SUPER easy! The basket fits perfectly and has a spring loaded handle so when you put the basket in the cleaner and close the top, it automatically goes down and the top shuts nice and tight! Then when you open the top of the cleaner, the handle springs up and when you remove the basket, everything stays in the basket. Clean up of the basket is easy... there is a latch on the side that opens the bottom so all the debris falls out and then you just rinse the sides and bottom off... the sides also come off if there's lots of debris you need to rinse off. I have not used the fine particle basket yet as there has been no need! The Dolphin keeps my pool cleaner than it's ever been! The only negative I have is the cord could be a little bit longer. My pool is 33 ft round - we have a room off the deck where the plug is located and it's not near the ground but a little over halfway up the wall so when I plug the power supply in and attach it to the cord, the cord isn't quite long enough to reach to the other side of the pool. That's the only issue. Overall, I love this pool cleaner for ease of use and clean up and the fact it gets all the debris up! The only other negative I have is about the manufacturer who will not answer emails no matter how many I send. I am trying to find out if there is a caddy I can get for this model so I don't have to turn it upside down after every use (I guess that's so the tracks and brush hold their shape.

A Tale of 2 Cleaners, Out with old, in with the new.
So I have been suffering....and let me repeat this....suffering for over 5 years with a Kreepy Krauly Great White which retails for over $400 bucks. I have been looking at robotic cleaners for a while. This project came in 2 steps. 1) Eliminate most of the tree limbs around/above the pool dropping leaves in, and 2) Purchase a REAL robotic pool cleaner. Step one was completed this weekend. As many limbs as could be removed were cut, and above the pool is completely clear now. Step 2 started on Monday, I found this robotic vacuum out of the blue and it had several good reviews AND a $50 rebate, so I thought WTH, I might as well get it. Yesterday (Wednesday) the vacuum arrived, but I had work to do first. Three huge piles of tree limbs from the tree cutters to haul to the streets so the city waste will pick it up. 3 hours later I had the 2 piles next to the pool clear. Next I had to remove the winter net from the pool which in the past is the only defense against leaves and debris. Of course removing the net means all the debris stuck around the edges of the net most likely goes in the pool, which FYI already had a lot of debris in it because my Kreepy Krauly Great White refuses to go to the shallow end. EVER. So we have a pool full of debris and I removed the Great White and took pictures of it for its ebay auction. I opened the Dolphin Escape excitedly. I couldn't wait to try it. It was ready to go out of the box. Connected the power cable to the power supply after untangling the cord completely, dropped the thing in the water and hit start. 1 hour later, the pool looked like the photo I attached. Now, granted, it didn't get every single thing out on the first try. I ran it for a second cycle and went to bed and when I woke up I'd say 99 percent of the debris was totally gone. I was so happy. I pulled it out, opened the lid and found all that stuff in the debris canister. Easily emptied it, washed it with a hose, and put it back in the unit. I disconnected the power cable, untangled and coiled the cable onto the unit, and placed it upside down as instructed in my storage shed so it could get a nap after all the hard work. I can't say enough how pleased I am about this purchase. I also got the 4 year extended warranty available, which I encourage you to also do. I would say this is a huge win, factoring in of course it it lasts a long time. I'm thinking I'll have to do this maybe 2 or 3 times a week in the winter time but I may not even need the pool net anymore! EDIT: I noticed when the cleaner switches directions it leaves the ground and floats, popping a wheelie. I called maytronics and they said this is a feature, not a flaw. I find that difficult to believe, however since it still cleans properly every single time, I cannot hold it against them. Edit 7/20/17 - Unit is still working GREAT. I use it once a week, have had no problems. I will stress to you, buy the extended warranty. Getting an extended warranty on a pool cleaner is almost unheard of, and it's cheap, so buy it. But still this thing is running like a freaking champ! Fast forward to 2020- The unit still works great. My ONLY issue is the one design flaw with this thing and it is that it pops stupid wheelies every time it changes directions. This is definitely not a feature. When it's popping wheelies it's not cleaning.

Great pool cleaner when it works
Good product when it works. Had some issues at first with not cleaning well and sent back. Was told to send all filters so I sent the ultra fine and regular filters I had. Only got the regular filter back but they sent a replacement regular filter instead of the ultra fine when asked for it so I ended up buying another ultra fine filter. Got mixed responses on the problem. One source gave some parts needing replacing and another said there was not any problems. Customer service, when called took days to respond. Had to really stay on top to get things answered so I would not give customer service a good review but the returned "repaired" version works good. Having this robot when it works really makes pool maintenance a lot easier.

It works great but note that it doesn't climb walls
I had the impression from reading the description that it would still climb the pool walls but when I got it, the instructions specifically said it did not climb the walls as it was made for above ground pools. So a little bit of a bummer on that, but maybe that was my bad. Otherwise it works amazing, waaaay better than other robots I have used. This is the best one so far! Its also the most expensive one I have yet purchased. It has great suction and the brush really helps. It does act like it is going to climb the wall but then stops and goes back. Great cord design, it doesn't get in the way at all. It picks up dirt and debris really well, and you do need to make sure to clean it out after every use. It doesn't pick up the find dirt particles. Apparently you need a different filter for that. I found this out after getting it there is a pamphlet that talks about how they recommend purchasing the fine filter and using that for regular cleaning and the one that comes with it for initial cleaning to pick up larger debris. Another thing I was confused on was I thought this one could be controlled from an app but it does not. To confess I was reading looking at several models of these so I may have gotten confused as to what this one did and didn't do. Because all of this was not clear on the product description, at least not for me, I have knocked a star off from the overall rating.

Worked great until it didn't.
UPDATE - here is what you are looking at IF you decide to send it in for a repair estimate. First, shipping it back - cost us $75 at the UPS store. Got an email back from Maytronics saying if we want it back unrepaired, we'd have to pay another $95 - $30 for freight shipping and another $65 for their diagnostics (which told us the power supply was the problem - another $242 would be required for a new one, so total repair cost on the invoice they sent us - #337!! This cost us $729 when we bought it. Not a good return on investment when you calculate how many cleanings you actually got out of it before it broke. BUYER BEWARE. I will not recommend this brand to anyone. VERY disappointed with Maytronics quality. Like the title says - it is great when it works. It stopped working out of nowhere. Maytronics wants you to send it in for repair in the box it came in - so keep the box. They will also charge a minimum of $99. to fix it - I guess they'll charge even more if it's complicated to fix? - PLUS return shipping. We bought the insurance through Amazon and that was a huge hassle as well. Maytronics argued with us that it was out of warranty when it clearly wasn't. Have to buy another brand and it won't be this one.

Worth the money!
Wish I had gotten this years ago for our above ground pool. I purchased this at the beginning of the summer and have been using it for the past 3 months. Very happy with the product. Good quality, works amazing at cleaning the pool. I purchased the ultra fine filter that goes with it. It does an amazing job every time and doesn't miss a spot. Navigates around and in between our pool stools and doesn't get tangled. Saves on water as I now backwash the filter much less frequently. I used to vacuum the pool once a week and it took me over an hour. Now I can put the Dolphin in a couple of times a week so the pool stays cleaner and I can do other things while the pool gets a good vacuuming. It takes minutes to clean the filters with a garden hose after each cleaning. Highly recommend for an above ground pool.

I love this vacuum - so convenient. 3 years old and going strong.
I bought this pool vac after our booster pump went out for the 2nd time, maybe even third time. The only thing our booster pump does is run the pool vacuum. This one doesn't hook up to the booster pump, it is independent of any of our pool equipment. I have this for two years, bought it in September 2022 and it is running fine. I keep the controller in a waterproof box during the summer, and it gets really hot here in Texas, but I have not had an issue. I will say that after 2 years, the cord that runs from the controller to the robot seems to be deteriorating, but honestly, this vacuum has lasted so much longer than the Polaris ones I had - I felt like I was buying one every year or so, and then I would have to replace the booster pump as well. I love this thing - I will never go back to the other style of vacuum. This one works great. We have a lot of leaves in the fall and I don't have an issue with the cleaner picking anything up - it picks up big leaves and fine particles of dirt. Buy one, you won't be sorry.

This thing is amazing
I bought this because I got frantic trying to close my pool when it was getting really cold and started to freeze and didn't have any help. I'm in bad health and don't have the energy or strength to get the leaves off the bottom with a net. When I received this I threw it in the pool and I was amazed on how well it sucked up the leaves and junk. It doesn't use the pump or filter on the pool. It's easy to put it into the pool and get it out and I can lift it when I take it out. It has a basket that needs to be emptied a lot when you have as much junk on the bottom of the pool as I did, and actually still do, but it's easy enough to clean out. The cord doesn't get tangled on it either. I don't have an outlet that's close enough to the house so I use an alternate power supply. You're not supposed to use an extension cord whatsoever. I never got to finish closing the pool correctly but it will be nice to have when it comes time to opening it again. After the initial cleanup in the spring, this will keep the pool clean because it will always eat the leaves that fall into the pool which are a pain in the butt trying to fish them out all the time and it won't have to be emptied as much then. It will pay for itself in the long run because the leaves are what cause more algae and then you have to add more chemicals although I use the BBB method (baking soda, bleach and borax) it's cheaper and more user friendly and make sure you have a professional water test kit. I use the Taylor K2006. After a lot of research I picked this robotic cleaner and don't regret spending the money on it one bit.
