My saviour, mouse is away to the other side
Can’t praise this trap enough. Had initially used classic cheap snap traps but the mouse kept getting away with the bait every time. Got some of the more expensive ’Phantom’ snap traps from Amazon in the hope of catching him but again it took the bait without fail every night. It had the luck to take it from 4 of them in one night! I started to lose hope of getting this mouse myself and resorted to getting sticky traps. Again the mouse knew to avoid these and also continued to take the bait off other traps. For one final attempt I got one of these traps in the hope of catching it. Lo and behold within 3 hours of putting the trap out he was caught. A week of trying multiple other traps and it was sorted so quickly with this. Design wise I really like it. It’s pretty discreet as far as traps go. It’s well built and the caught indicator is very good. No more being anxious to keep checking the trap to see if anything was caught. Personally I didn’t empty the trap but my housemate said it was pretty easy and he didn’t have to touch the mouse. No mess at all and a bonus is he didn’t touch the bait so was able to immediately reset it and have it out again incase there is more than 1. I’m definitely holding on to this to use as a preventative measure. The other traps are going into the bin. Trust me the price is worth it. The mouse itself was on the smaller/medium sized end so can see why no matter the sensitivity why the traps with platforms never triggered.

Highly effective if you follow instructions
Brilliant - the following is my advice: 1) warning: the info leaflet warns against using this, or at least bring very careful, if you have a heart problem or pacemaker. 2) advice for successful use: * use plastic gloves at all times including unpacking to prevent any human smell. * I placed the trap against the wall on a couple of bricks to keep it away from rainy ground. * Don’t insert the batteries for a few days (or don’t switch it on). Lay the bait at the entrance of the trap and a little bit inside. I used bird seed and a bit of cheese. It took two days before our resident rat felt confident to take this bait. I then replaced the bait every day for about five days moving it gradually towards the bait station at the back. Ratty brazen and careless after a few days of this. On execution day I put cheese in the bait station at the end and one small bit of cheese just inside the entrance. After less than an hour I heard the beep telling me the trap had been activated. As it was night I went out the next morning. Ratty’s little bottom and tail hanging out of the trap. I felt sick. But not as sick as I would have done with a traditional spring trap. Husband rat phobic so guess who had to empty it… I did not love this job - but the electrocution was obviously very effective - he never got anywhere near the cheese at the back. I really really hope it was quick and he didn’t know what hit him. And he was a biggun - filled the whole box with tail hanging outside. I feel guilty and I wish my jack russell had managed to kill him first but I think this has got to be more humane than weeks slowly dying of poison. I also felt fine disposing of him in a natural scrubland as there is no poison to go down the food chain. So all in all I recommend this effective trap. I’m not sure that you do if you’ve got a whole nest of them… hope I don’t have to find out….

Completely Useless – Didn’t Catch a Single Rat
The rat trap has been completely ineffective since I bought it. Despite setting it up correctly and trying multiple times, it hasn’t caught a single rat.

Does what it says on the tin!
Used in conjunction with SWISSINNO SuperCat as bait, one unwelcome visitor dispatched to mousey heaven within a couple of hours of setting it. None of the "mess" associated with a conventional snap trap. No need to physically handle Jerry on his way to the bin. There is a slight ozone smell after old sparky has done it's work. Dead easy, pun intended, to set up, use & empty.

Ok device
I've had electric traps before, but the jury is out on this one. The batteries in the trap were new, but the mouse although dead, seemed to be able to eat all the food / bait before dying??!!

Seems to be working
I have had 2 of these for2 weeks now having suffered a bad rat problem where they started nesting in the garden & then coming into the house, chewing through my kitchen sink pipe & dishwasher pipe. I could not believe how brazen a rat is, they will run over youre foot, sit on a tumble drier in front of you & not move unless you move the tumble drier ! I could hear them in my cavity walls & underneathe my floorboards, constantly chewing as their front teeth never stop growing so they have to keep them short by constantly chewing up everything in their path ! I literally received these 2 machines when for some reason I had not seen or heard a single rat. However I keep one under my kitchen cupboards & one in my garden which I shall keep going all year round, as they just keep coming back all the time. But although vermin has not entered the trap. They do work as the one in the garden kept bleeping every 10 seconds & the light kept flashing. On on inspection a wood louse & a baby slug were in the box dead, so it proves the boxes do activate & work at the slightest touch when a creature crawls in. I highly recommend. As firstly I tried peppermint oil which rats are supposed to hate, they did not care about this what so ever, then I tried poison bait locked in a box in the garden. But that is no good if you have pets, I had to stop using this when rats came into the house because if a cat or dog sinks its teeth into the rat on capture it will give youre pet a long lingering death as these poisons cause internal bleeding over 3-4 days. I read that this device electrocutes & kills instantly which is more humane. I have never tried snap traps, simply because ive been told by people who have used them that they impale the vermin, but the vermin will take hours to die & scream the whole time. Which is not pleasant to hear, especially if you have placed these in youre house. So I really think these devices are the best solutions. If you call out an exterminator who will charge £150 per visit. He/she will lay down poison or fill in holes or pull up rats nests. But apart from that, if you have children or pets they cant not get rid of vermin, as they only use poison to get rid of them. If you allowed a rat or mouse to continue to breed in the house they would destroy the whole house through the damage they make. So I think this is the best way of exterminating them .

Be Patient it will get that Rat
Today the trap killed its first large rat before that it had caught six mice I saw the rat enter the trap then twitch. I would highly recommend this trap.

Works a treat - very effective
I bought a previous model of an electronic killer and though it was effective, it was difficult to clean. This OWLTRA OW-1 is excellent. Most importantly it is effective. It has been triggered nine times, with eight mice humanely killed. Only one lucky mouse managed to avoid getting killed in the trap. You can see how effective the actual kill is by the fact each mouse has been killed without leaving a pee or poo mess. Instantaneous in every case. There has not been a single occasion that the bait has been touched without the device being triggered so I am 100% confident that other than 'the one that got away' there have been no instances where the mouse has entered without triggering the flashing green alert light and meeting it's end. The great thing about this trap is that the top is easily removed for cleaning. Even though I have not had to do it, I do it as a matter of routine to ensure the metal plates are going to be as conductive as possible. I suspect the failure of some users is to do this simple process. If the plates are not clean, they won't be as effective. Because the top comes off it is also much easier to place bait in the correct position. I used to hate cleaning the previous device and it was a bit of a pain to put peanut butter in the right place. This OWLTRA has addressed both problems. I'd highly recommend it.

Caught a HUGE rat.
We put this in a couple places in the house and one day my wife decided to put it in the babys crib (no baby inside) where she found some droppings. In the middle of the night I was confused as there seemed to be a flashing light in the room. I finally came to my senses and realized it was the TRAP! Oh man, there was 3-4" of tail sticking out of it. I didn't have the heart to open the trap so I held on to the whole trap and launched the rat into the forest. 2024-August Update: we have caught like 6-7 rats in this and each time we set the trap it probably takes a few days to catch one. We put it on the car seat inside the car as a rat got in my wife's brand new subaru and was chewing the kids seat. BAM! Another dead rat. We have never even changed the batteries in this thing either. Such a good product. In fact I only changed the bait today after a year+ of use.

It kills rats…dead…
Excellent trap for rats. Resolved my rat problem in a couple weeks. It was catching rats in my chicken coop every day until the problem was resolved. Easy to clean and redeploy. One set of D batteries last for a couple weeks. Waterproof lid protects internal electronics. Great value!
