Durable, Dependable, but Mind the Sizing
I’ve purchased six Silpat mats across full, half, and quarter sheet sizes, and they’ve become indispensable across baking, roasting, and prep. Heat distribution is even and consistent, and cleanup is simple—just rinse and air dry. They perform reliably at high oven temps without warping or sticking. Usage Notes: They’re ideal for anyone looking to eliminate parchment or foil. That said, durability hinges entirely on conscious use: sharp objects are a no-go. Even steel turners or light knife contact will damage the surface. At 2 mm thick, they offer solid grip and insulation, but no cut resistance. Watch the Sizing: One recurring issue is mat-to-pan mismatch. Several half-sheet variants appear standard but don’t fit flush—some curl onto the rim or sit within the burr edge of the sheet pan. Silpat doesn’t clearly differentiate between US and European sizing, so measure your pans before purchase to avoid this. Bottom Line: Exceptional for heat consistency, cleanup, and general kitchen use—just avoid sharp tools and verify sizing. Once you do, it’s likely you’ll end up owning several.

Another Indispensible Silpat Baking Mat...
I love Silpat Baking Mats! They are versatile, easy to store and, even with the initial cost, end up saving one money when compared to parchment paper. The Demarle Silpat mats are the best quality product on the market, but their higher price makes them a splurge item for me. I spoil my husband and son-in-law by baking their favorite chocolate chip cookies frequently and in batches of 3 or 4 cookies each time. I was tucking the extra on my larger mats under so they fit onto my smaller cookie sheet without the excess hanging off the end. This mat is the perfect size for baking smaller quantities of cookies. It fits nicely, with no hang-over, on my smaller cookie sheets. Further, it is just the right size for using in a toaster oven; this is a real plus for those who use that appliance on a regular basis. Like other Silpat mats, it cleans easily with a mild soap and water wash. Although I felt this smaller mat would be quite useful, I couldn't reconcile myself to its somewhat disproportionate price, So I placed it on my Amazon Wishlist until I needed something to add to an order which would qualify my order for Super Saver Shipping. Rationalization is a wonderful thing... If you are looking for a smaller Silpat mat, you can't go wrong with this item. I recommend it without reservation.

Perfect for baking dough does not stick, easy to separate item a breeze to clean
After using spatula to try to get pizzas off a pan and leaving a lot of dough in the pan someone told me about Sil Pat. This is a brand name. Pricy but the literature says it will have between 2,000 and 3,000 uses. I believe it. I am a convert now. Where has this item been. It was invented in 1965 by a french chef. The item can be stored flat or rolled but never folded. It is silicone with fiberglass fabric embedded. Nothing sticks to this. I wash it with a few drops of dawn and warm water and just run your fingers over both sides. This is the answer to pizza making. Nothing will stick to silicone. No need to put in a dishwasher. Rectangles and round disks are also available. I also bought a 9 inch disk and an 8 inch disk to make a small size pizza for one. Biggest problem was finding a pyrex type pie plate the the disk would lie flat in instead of buckling. From a single 20 ounce bag of pizza dough I can make four small disk shaped pizzas. One at a time of course. No oil needed other than a few tablespoons of olive oil. I used in a toaster oven and had difficulty getting the center of the dough to cook. I was eating "gummy" dough near the center. Solved this problem by first putting the round or rectangle sil pat in the toaster oven for about five minutes to cook first then remove it and then add olive oil, garlic bits, broccoli and mushrooms and black olives and mozzarella and any seasoning. Watch it cook in a toaster over or it will start to burn the brocolli. In a house oven this may not be problem. It can be difficult to get a round silpat out of a hot pyrex pie plate. I use a wood toothpick to raise an edge and then a plastic spatula to lift it out of the hot pyrex plate.

An absolute MUST for bakers!
These things are so fabulous, I'm just amazed that I managed to go so long without them. I've had mine for about 5 years now, and I never make cookies without them. They're great for everything else, too - but for cookies, scones, biscuits, etc., they're indispensable. Well, they are unless you actually LIKE greasing pans & having to wash them and so on. With these, just wipe them with a paper towel if anything's left on them (chocolate chips, caramel, etc.), and you're done. This size is fairly large - fine on a large, flat cookie sheet - if you have cookie sheets that have raised edges, a bit smaller would work better to keep them flat. You can also use them for other stuff; onions, parmesan crisps, etc., but if you use them for savory stuff, they need an actual WASH with real dish detergent to keep the smells from getting on them. I've NEVER seen anything stick to them, in 5 years of steady use.

Perfect size for those smaller cookie sheets
I use these primarily when I freeze fruits and vegetables although they certainly work equally well for baking and offer easy clean up and non stick. I have larger sizes but recently bought these for smaller baking pans which I use a lot when I cut up fruit or vegetables and freeze them and then put the frozen pieces in a zip lock bag to be used later, like my morning smoothie. I got tired of wasting parchment paper, so these were the perfect solution. I freeze a lot of cut-up avocado chunks for my smoothies, and these Silpat sheets make it very easy to remove the frozen avocado chunks and bag them up.

Do their job but are so hard to clean
I like the idea of these and they work well while baking to keep a non-stick surface and I like that they are reusable, the only issue is cleaning, they never feel clean (like a lot of silicone items). I've washed them multiple times in a row, which is difficult in itself because they are flimsy and difficult to hold onto while washing, but they always feel oily in the end, its like they keep producing oil after you wash them. I didn't put oil directly on them, but most foods do contain some oils.

Can’t Live Without These!
Durable, quick and easy cleaning. No greasing needed. These wipe clean with soap and water. Gone are the days of scrubbing a sheet pan for hours to get burned on food off. Nothing sticks. Period. We have used these at an oven temperature of 425 degrees with no problems. (Not for stove top, grill, or broiler use.) We use these literally every day. On our third set now. We replace every few years when they start picking up stains.

The best mat ever
This mat is perfect it doesnt burn it is not hard to clean and it has a cute kind of rustic look (matches my decor).I didn't realize you needed to place this mat on a baking sheet or other panof some sort but it's still worth it. When I bought this mat I wasn't paying attention to the size I ordered and I wish I had bought a larger one! This small one works for my jelly roll baking sheet so I'll be keeping it and buying a larger one for cookies as well. I've had this for three days and I've used it to make two kinds flaxseed flatbread and right now I have some vegan corn chips baking on it. When I made the flatbread I was able to easliy turn it over on to a cutting board without problems. It washes off very quickly and easily.
