Can you squeeze the rubber box to fit through the speakers’ 8 inch opening without needing to enlarge the hole?

Yes you can fit it in there. That is why I bought it. We already cut the holes and then we realized we created a noise problem upstairs. What you will do is roll the Dynamat length wise like a rubber mat. Then you fit it into the hole and when it is in the hole you let it unravel and it fills the speaker cavity. The key question is how big is the cavity behind your 8" hole? You might need to reposition the hole to work with your home.

How large of a speaker can the dynabox accommodate?

I have used the following sizes with that enclosure. 5 1/4”, 6 1/2”, and 8”.
