Instead they have a sort of smoke tint which makes them more acceptable or suitable for indoor wear and I been wearing them indoors at home and it decreases how often debris gets in my eyes at work. Not polarized, but cuts down on some level of glare and has UVA/B/C protection. The photochromic feature will slightly darken the lenses within 5 minutes when exposed to sunlight. Ever since the pandemic these glasses have helped spare me from the issue of getting dry eyes. I can't speak for use in sport situations, but with the included foam insert they will float if lost in water which is great.Takes an open mind and some getting used to, but my theory is since eyes don't dilate because the light level is still in the normal range it could increase the protection of your eyes to any UV that would manage to get through. They have other tinted models and the SG2-15 are better if you want polarized plus normal tint. There is also the third option of non-polarized and tinted which the SG4-16 seem to be. I like the options they have. If you get these just get out of the habit of squinting in bright light. Sun is less jarring, but can still get very bright if you look in the direction of the sun.These SG1-15 in particular give great peripheral vision coverage in the curvature.These glasses work great for UV protection during overcast and even during the winter too.AppearanceThey seem a bit unusual as a glasses/goggles hybrid, and people sometimes think it's strange to see your eyes through sunglasses so clearly. They have an interesting almost futuristic appearance. I would say these glasses make you more trustworthy as they don't hide you as much as traditional sunglasses do. That combined with being very slightly reflective humanizes the experience making them self aware, and able to see eye contact. Probably a bit like how mirrored glasses seem to be used. They make an interesting first impression and to add to that I wonder if people are cautious at first while trying to figure out if they're those silly video-recording-goggles because of the thicker frames.ConclusionGood value. They come with a padded case and orange storage sack. GYST sunglasses are made of plastic materials, but are sturdy and built well. See the safety specifications. The customer support has been great to communicate with when I had concerns. I have many ideas about how diverse this design could be, like such as a swimming goggle addon or considerations to fit more evenly against different face types. They're good enough that I think I plan to stick with this brand. Normally I would hesitate to spend over $50 on sunglasses so it was a risk, but I would say they're worth picking up for around the $100 because I started to use them more frequently than past sunglasses.Can't wait to see what GYST comes up with if there is ever a SG3 model. I'm hopeful it will combine SG1 and SG2 and go above and beyond. I would probably pay closer to $200 for a model like that. Either way these are great glasses. Took a lot of consideration to find my way to these. Maybe not for everyone, but they're for me.
