Oxidizing gel
I switched from liver of sulfer to this oxidizing gel and I love it. It's easy to use and does a great job. The only draw back is that it only lasts for a day before it needs to be discarded so I do oxidizing in large batches if I can.

Great for dark marks on different metals.
I’ve used this stuff on Sterling (925) silver, brass and bronze and it’s just freaking awesome! I do a lot of laser engraving and these materials all respond well to LoS to blacken marks made by the laser. If you want a durable, dark mark on these metals, buy this and enjoy! It’s a 10!

The "some brass" part of the product description is key
Does NOT work on pure brass. I bought this to use on some brass, knowing it was a bit of a toss up if it would work or not, based on the product description itself ("some brass"). It does not -- but it has less to do with the product and everything to do with the metal itself. If the brass doesn't have a high enough copper content, this Liver of Sulfur won't work. And evidently my brass had little to none copper, and I'm guessing a lot of zinc. However, since I bought it already and had a mixture done, I dropped a few miscellaneous coins into it. The dimes (mostly copper and nickel) worked exactly as advertised. So giving it a 4 stars because it mostly did what it said it would -- work on some brass (depending upon the brass makeup). But it would have been nice to know before purchasing which type of brass - exactly - it works on.

The magic sauce for oxidizing
This product is amazing. Within a few minutes, it darkens bright silver to patina. From then, you can polish strategically to create more dimension and customize your creation.

Delivery was extremely fast despite the pandemic situation. Just tried on my brass knife handle, unfortunately doesn't work at all. A pity.

I was really happy to find this at such a low price as well. Saved me a lot of trouble as i used to oxidise some jewellery i was working on. The instructions are really straightforward. Although I didnt wear gloves I would recommend you do because it's difficult to avoid contact with the substance and your hands feel a bit itchy for a while afterwards. Also had a small effect (just a tint) on brass as well which was good. Very smelly so try and do it outdoors if possible or next to window. The smell stays on for a while but I knew that already from working with it before.
