How hard do you have to push down on the spring in order to unlock it? Would a 3-4 yr have the strength to open it?

Not very hard at all. If a 3-4 year old could figure out how to open it they would certainly be strong enough to do it.

I LOVE THAT YOU CAN USE THE STICK TAPE OF SCREW THEM IN. IT WORKS BOTH WAYS SO I USUALLY USE THE DOUBLE STICKY TAPE TO PUT THEM WHERE A WANT THEM AND THE SCREW THEM IN ANYWAYS. THEYRE THE RIGHT THICKNESS AND WORKS WELL. HAS A STRONG HOLD. AND MY BABY HASNT FIGURED THEM OUT YET, WHICH IM THANKFUL FOR. IT PROTECT HER FROM THE CABBINETS I DONT WANT HER IN. GREAT VALUE FOR THE MONEY. AND EASY TO ISNTALL
