Cheap paints for cheap fun
Edited to increase the rating to 4 stars and add better swatches. In the last 2 photos you can see all the colours swatched on cold-pressed watercolour paper. The bottom row is a comparison to other cheap metallic paints from China. After swatching properly and playing with the paints a bit more, I've decided I really like them and will enjoy using them. I would give 5 stars if the pans were properly filled and didn't collapse down to not much at all.I ordered the palette of 36 paints for the grand total of £14.39, which seemed like a bargain to me. I've been buying handmade watercolours from a well known craft site and whilst they are absolutely beautiful, they're also very pricey. So this set, with 36 different shades, 1 large fold out palette, 2 water brushes, 1 paint brush, 1 pencil, 2 swatch cards, a velvet bag and a storage box for less than £15, appealed to me.First things first, with these generic types of palettes, usually made in the Far East, you are not going to receive artist quality paints. You should pretty much always expect the pans to be filled haphazardly, sometimes they will have cracks or you find large bubbles of air in the pans. Essentially, this is not the palette for you if you intend to use it for anything other than casual, fun use. This is why it cost me only £14.39.Initial impressions upon receiving the palette were good - (first photo) the box was sealed and surprisingly good quality with a magnetic flap for closure. Unfortunately, the box I received had sustained some damage which goes through the lid. The velvet bag is better than expected too, decent quality and I don't think it will fall apart easily. Time will tell! The second photo shows the paints with a drop of water added (I forgot to take a snap before I dived right in!). You can see the shades have a nice variety - I actually had no idea what to expect shade wise, the marketing photos are so manipulated. You can also see the pans have varying fill levels, but generally appear decently packed.Third photo displays some of the accessories included and what the paints look like after being used. You can see sometimes just adding a drop of water collapses the top layer and you discover the pan is barely filled. This is obviously highly disappointing - but again, you should expect it with these palettes. They're so much cheaper for a reason. Finally, we have the swatches which I did using the cards included. They aren't swatch cards IMO. They are thin, barely textured, cheap rubbish. I used them as a test and to quickly get up swatches of the shades for other interested buyers. The paints applied reasonably well, they are semi-pigmented and most have a decent sheen. For me, these paints are great to play around with, the sheerer pigment means they tend to be a little more forgiving for a beginner. My overall thoughts are that this is a great purchase for £15 or less. I would not pay much more than that. I hope this review helps others make their minds up.

Paints pans are not full like the photos.
The colours are lovely but the image in the listing is misleading. The pans are only half full on some colours. For the price paid you could get Windsor. And newton paints.Feel like I have overpaid.

A few minor issues but UNBEATABLE for the price!
This is a very good product for this price point, I haven’t seen a artist product this good value in a while!Pros:There is a good range of colours and the tin is sturdy & great to transport. I really appreciate the included velvet bag which makes taking the tin, the included brushes, and the swatch card very easy. If you look at my first photo you’ll see all that’s included. :) I like the fact that a bullet & wash brush are included (see photo) this made it easy to do a light blue wash & then some painted calligraphy on top (see last picture of a card I made for my other half). The paint is a good amount of sparkly, not so much it’s essentially a mirror & you lose the colour, and not so little that lighter washes lose the metallic, although very light washes do lose that effect somewhat by matter of Physics lol! See photo for swatches.I liked that the colours mixed well, I wasn’t sure how well metallic would mix but it’s pretty good. It’s good that there is an included purple though, purple is impossible to mix sometimes, it’s the bane of my water colouring existence lol!Cons:There are a few minor issues, the brushes could be a slightly better quality, and the pans aren’t properly filled (see photo of silver pan with a hole in it) as others have mentioned. I still think there is a good amount of pigment for the price, but it can make loading the brush up a little tricky.I don’t think the swatch card is ideal because it’s shiny card but it depends what you use I guess, I would change it for thick plain card if I were to suggest an easy update.I found it a bit tricky to load up a concentrated load of pigment, making it sometimes a bit washed out. But I think that might be user error, and you can always paint in layers to darken the colour. It was hard to choose between 5 star or 4, as for the price you can’t expect it to be professional and for a price below £10 I’d easily buy it again when these pans are used up, and use the tin for spare pans but it does need a few little updates so I went for an honest 4 star.My favourite this is I just love how grab & go it is for making, you have literally everything you need! I absolute recommend it, my advice is nab it whilst it’s cheap!!

Great Value!
The tin alone is worth the money! I'm not sure of the pencil or the water brushes but the brushes don't seem to leak but I haven't used them since filling them. The colours are gorgeous but obviously not as opaque or pigmented as a professional brand, honestly for the money they are brilliant! I would thoroughly recommend this set and the packaging is beautiful too! 8)

Beautiful set of paints.
What a lovely set of paints, beautifully boxed, the actual tin of paints is encased in a black velvet bag. Lovely range of shiny smooth metallic paints. Comes with a paint brush, two water brushes and a pencil. Plus two swatches, one black one white. Absolutely over the moon with this stunning set.

Excellent set
These paints are beautiful, I'm so happy with them. These are my first set, I love the choice of colours. I'm hoping to use in my adult colouring books but they do make me want to have a go at my own pictures. Yes the pans have some bubbles in them but for the price and variety of colours I don't mind, your still getting excellent value for money. They shimmer beautifully, you don't need a lot of water, put some in the pan and let it sit for a min, better to use a brush than the water brushes as they can add too much water and dilute the colour. Also once dry the colour comes through better.
