TUO Vegetable Cleaver Knife, Chinese Chef Knife 7 inch Meat Cleaver with Pakkawood Handle, Stainless Steel Butcher Chopper for Home Kitchen - Fiery Phoenix Series

I've used this 7-inch Chinese Chef's knife for a couple of months or so. It was received sharp out of the box. This knife is quite visually impressive, well finished, attractive, and easy to handle. Packaging was more than acceptable too. The shape of the blade combined with the luster of the Pakkawood handle is stunning and immediately captured my attention. Its looks begged me to search for finishing flaws. I couldn't find any. The fit and finishing of my 7-inch Vegetable Cleaver is impeccable. The balance point seems to be located perfectly at the location of my pinch grip just forward of the bolster, which is remarkable for a cleaver-type blade. The push cut performance of this knife on vegetables is really great. You would expect this knife to excel at chopping...and it truly does. It's edge and it's heft make quick work of carrots and potatoes while it's still nimble and sharp enough to slice delicate herbs such as Italian Parsley. I like using this TUO Vegetable Cleaver knife so much, it has quickly become my go-to knife and it remains within immediate reach of the cutting board. Honing on the Chef'sChoice Pronto Pro Diamond Hone 4643 keeps this knife in wonderful shape. This knife is an excellent value and I think most home cooks like me will be very pleased with this TUO Chinese vegetable cleaver. Other than a multiple knife discount for purchasing several TUO Fiery Phoenix series knives at the same time as this purchase, I've not been compensated in any way for my review. In truth, since this purchase, I now very much favor TUO knives and own a variety of knives from TUO's Fiery Phoenix series, the B&W series, and I even bought three knives from the TUO Ring series. GOOD stuff! UPDATE, 9/27/17: I am so impressed with this particular knife, I purchased my second 7-inch Vegetable Cleaver during a Lightning Deal. I felt I wanted a spare on hand in case this production knife was discontinued in the far-off future. If TUO Cutlery were to produce this particular blade shape in VG-10 steel with a Damascus finish, I would purchase it in a heartbeat. This knife is just stellar as is! But a VG-10 steel blade with a Damascus finish will make this knife even more appealing than the current Five-star rating this knife has already earned to date.

Bought this along with TUO Vegetable knife and I am in love with both. Very well built with quality material on both blade and handle and it looks amazing. Cleaver has a bit extra weight (design intent) as this make it perfect for chopping veggies into very small/fine pieces. Extremely sharp. I can almost make a tomato puree with this in seconds.

This and my TUO Nakiri knife are my two most used knives. This knife has some weight for heavy thick-skinned squash and yet so sharp and precise for quickly mincing onion and julienning carrots without much effort! It feels so good in your hand, and the way the blade moves is so natural you’ll be chopping in a trance. I can cut meat super thin for stir fries as well. No need to wash many knives for basic home cooking. I don’t even reach for my other santoku and chef knives anymore. I’ll likely donate them and streamline my stash. I also purchased the paring knife and the filet knife for special tasks. But for most everything else, these two are my go to. I’ve had this cleaver for a couple months and made kabocha earlier this week. Effortless! Be very careful! This has cut easily through chicken bones without so much more as a graze.My Nakiri I’ve had for a year or more. Still sharp and sturdy! I love this brand so much my mom and mother in law are both in love too! They also offer deals from time to time, so keep watch and don’t hesitate!!

This cleaver has quickly grown to become my "go to" kitchen knife. I love the shape, the weight and the overall design. Honestly I was really not expecting much and I have never purchased a knife from China before. I was expecting it to be a throwaway and thought I would have to at least clean the edge up to serviceable on my whetstone. Completely surprised and very happy to say that I was completely wrong. I have cooked professionally and I own several name brands ranging from Chicago Cutlery through Shun, to Messermeister San Moritz Elite and beyond; (some of which are a bit pricy) and I can not say enough about how much I really like this cleaver. The quality was unexpected and is impressive and the blade was quite sharp right out of the box. I use it practically every day since I purchased it in early last December and other than a honing rod the edge is still excellent. I will likely purchase another TUO product and see if they compare but would easily recommend this to anyone looking for a cleaver. Yes, I know that it says it's a vegetable/meat cleaver. That is a matter of opinion on technicality but I do use it for both. Since I don't break up large pieces of meat that isn't an issue and I do have a serious meat cleaver should I need it but for an everyday cook in the kitchen looking for a cleaver that is not exactly a traditional shape, this can't be beat in my opinion.

This is such a great kitchen tool. It is the sharpest knife I’ve ever owned. I have owned one for a while and I bought this one as a gift for my son who loves to cook.

This is a great knife and was well priced. The handle has a nice wood design and feels nice to cut with. The blade is very sharp and has good weight. This knife has no issues chopping root veggies and melons.
