Would I recommend them for Olympic weight lifting movements that end with them being dropped from a height? Of course not- bumper plates would be much preferable for those movements. But for deadlift, bench press, squat and any barbell or Olympic dumbbell exercise that relies on controlled time under tension and negative phase contraction, they are perfectly fit for purpose. In fact, because they are smaller in circumference that bumper plates, they will require an extra 1-2 inches of depth in deadlift from the floor, which is no bad thing providing you have the posterior chain integrity to do it (and you really should). Are the 20's and the 5's a different shade of metallic grey? Yes. Do I care? No. Should you care? Honestly, I don't think so. These are great value for a home gym set up, and the built in multi grip design increases their utility, and also makes them fantastic for use with a landmine for Bus Driver's , single arm lever press, prone grip single arm lever rows etc. Spend more for something prettier if you like- it's your money, but I'd sooner buy more of these for the cash, and get stronger, than sit around admiring less weight for it's colour coordination.
