Large, sturdy Pirate ship
I’m giving this five stars because once it was done it is a beautiful ship and I know my grandson will love it. Unfortunately the first one I ordered had a bag of parts missing. But Amazon handled the problem immediately and exchanged the ship within a couple days. That being said it is not the easiest thing to put together and we fastened the sails different so they were out of the way of the ladders. The sails are probably not going to last being made of paper but it is a big, sturdy ship with lots of fun features. I’m sure it will be fun even without the sails. The cannon shoots darts which is really neat. Great toy for the pirate lovers.

I wish I had a toy like this growing up!
No regrets! Would 100% recommend! If this is a Christmas gift, put it together BEFORE you gift it. It took us about 40 min to put it together, and I bought two! So 40 min each. So much easier for everyone without the stress of trying to put it together on Christmas morning! Does it float? YES! My husband has a lot of sea time for work and he agreed that this toy is very well designed for a ship! My boys are 4 and 5 and they cannot stop playing with it! So far, no broken anything, it seems super durable - and my kids are rough on toys. It comes with pieces that are SUPER tiny, so don’t get this if your kid still puts things in their mouth - like the most tiniest little pieces I’ve ever seen for a toy, smaller than Legos (coins, pistols, swords).

My grandson loves this! He plays with it in the pool and in his room. Durable and it floats!

Great Toy
My 5 year old loves this! He loves the fact that it really floats and will play with it for hours. The toy and accessories are durable, but we have had to reattach the front (triangular) sail and anchor several times. The tension required to keep the sail attached to the mast seems more than it will be able to handle long term. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and my son is thrilled to have a "real" pirate ship.

Fantastic toy for those little pirates-in-training ;)
I bought this as a gift for my nephew since he loves pirates and this corsair is exactly what the doctor ordered. The ship is very detailed but not overwhelmingly so. It does take some time to assemble. So, if this is going to be a gift, I would recommend putting it together in advance as it took me about 1.5 hours to assemble. If you have smaller kids, you may want to keep some of the smaller parts such as the dozens of little coins that come to put in the pirate coffer. The ship not only floats but also has little wheels so they can roll it on the ground or, more likely, your antique, wooden table. Just a little side story: I have had Playmobils since I was about 5, back in 1984 or so. The fact that the exact, same toys my brother and I used to play with back in the 80's are being used by my little nephew is a testament to the quality and workmanship of the Playmobil line. After around 25 years, my old astronauts and knights are still in tip top shape and entertaining a new generation of little imagineers.

Preschool son loves it, but the sails are frustrating
Summary: This ship is a lot of fun for young kids. It's a bit juniorized for my taste, but I bought it for my three year old son. He's enjoying it, and I won't be heartbroken if he breaks it. Very high quality toy, except for the sails, which are just made of card stock and definitely won't last long. If you're looking for a ship for older kids or an adult, I recommend the 5683 Soldiers' Patrol Boat. Pros: – Most importantly, my 3 year old son loves this ship. I bought it for him, so that's all that really matters. I think it looks awful, but that's great because I won't get too upset when the sails inevitably rip apart. – The big treasure chest is really cool – The hull is really heavy and satisfying to hold. It makes this feel like a very premium product (until you pull out the sails…) – Those little circles all over the ship are for holding the guys (klickies) in place, which comes in handy (especially given the poop deck is slanted so much they can't stand on it without aid) – There's a secret compartment at the back of the ship that's perfect for holding extra weapons for mutineers – The cargo hold is a good size and is a fun place to store things – The cannon is perfect for both kids and adults. The cannonballs are attached to bright orange darts, which make them easy to keep track of. (If you've ever seen a kid play with Lego cannons, you'll understand just how important this is!) The cannonballs have a good amount of weight to them so they're capable of knocking down several klickies at once. The rubber tips are also nice because these don't bounce like crazy like Lego cannonballs. The rubber absorbs much of the impact, and they fall close to the target. – The anchor is a fun feature and the capstan turns with a very satisfying click. – There's a nice variety in the klickies here. There's a simple green-shirted sailor that could fit just as well into a castle display once you change his hat. Except for the eyepatch, there's nothing about the captain that screams "pirate," so you could use him in a variety of nautical scenes. Then there's a third pirate, which is more ornate than the rest, which just adds the right touch of variety to the figures here. Cons: – The biggest issue I have with this set is that the sails are made of plain paper. They're not even covered in wax like the sails in the newer sets. They're just card stock, and they would just fall apart if you put the ship in water like the box suggests. – The strings attaching the foresail are very complicated for a toy geared toward such a young audience. I used the knot they suggest in the instructions, and it's always coming undone while my son plays with it. The strings are a bit short, and it pulls the sail all the way back to the rigging. – The jib isn't really long enough to be attached to the mast. It's possible, but you have to stretch it SUPER tight, which makes it even more likely that this paper sail will be ripped. – To me, as an adult, the ship just looks goofy compared to something like the 5683 Soldiers' Patrol Boat, which has more natural colors, and its deck has a lot more depth. But, like I said, my son loves it, and that's what really matters. – The poop deck is slanted aftward, so the klickies will slide off or fall over unless you secure them. – It's a little light in the weapons department, especially considering the secret compartment seems to be designed for storing weapons. Besides the cannon, you get two of the smaller style pistols and two gold cutlasses, which isn't really enough to keep the crew properly armed during a battle. It would be nice if the set included a couple muskets. Shipping: – This may not apply to everyone buying this, but here's my experience with the shipping. They slapped a label on the retail box and shipped it. It arrived very beat up and the hull was very dirty from being partly exposed during transit. Nothing was broken or missing, but the box wasn't presentable by any means, which you might consider a problem if you're buying this as a gift, you intend to resell, or you just want to keep the box. It also bugged me because anyone driving by my house would have seen this giant Playmobil box at my door step and could have taken it, knowing exactly what it is already. Or if I had bought this as a gift, the kids would have seen it and the surprise would have been spoiled. (I bought it as a reward for my son to do chores, so that wasn't a problem for us either.)

I ordered this thinking it would be a great small gift . . I was wrong - it was a great large gift! - My grandson thoroughly loved the process of putting it together with me, its has some great little features, like the firing canon, the anchor, and the swing rope, keeping him well entertained! Good build quality too.
