High quality filter basket that performs exactly as advertised. The machining is excellent and the basket feels noticeably more precise than the factory one. I’ve seen better flow and more consistent results since switching, especially with higher dose shots. Fits my 54mm Breville portafilter properly and seats well. A worthwhile upgrade for anyone serious about improving espresso consistency.

After receiving my IMS H28 Basket, I can say that I'm blown away by the shots I can pull. After looking at the hole quality, it definitely is an improvement over the stock Breville baskets that I use on my Breville Bambino. With a larger capacity of 21 grams, I'm able to use more coffee and achieve a fuller, more flavorful shot. The water is also distributed more evenly, resulting in a well-balanced espresso with a rich crema. I dose from 18-22 depending on the beans I get. I highly recommend the IMS H28 basket for anyone looking to take their espresso game to the next level. TLDR: Pros: Better water channeling Allows for bigger dosage Higher quality compared to stock Breville basket Unpressurized and works best with Bottomless portafilters Easy to clean Cons: A little bit expensive Not that many Overall, please get this basket for your Breville. The stock basket can only really pull with 14g which leads to really acidic pulls if you want 2 oz shots.

Overall, this is a great basket! It is a bit deeper than most since it is a 19-21 gram basket for a 54mm basket diameter, so you may need to adjust your distribution tool to get down deep if you don't use it in conjunction with a tamper. I use just the distribution tool as a tamper and it works for me. I contacted the seller about an imperfection in the basket, where the wall was scratched rather deep. They reassured me that it wouldn't impact any negative flavors but proceeded to sent me another basket to alleviate my concerns! If you are using the Portafilter that came with the Breville Bambino, it will NOT fit if you don't remove the plastic inner distributer. I went ahead and bought the Matow wooden handle bottomless portafilter and it fits snuggly in that just fine. Overall, I've been getting good consistent shots from this basket & have been able to improve my coffee puck preparation by switching to the bottomless filter as well. It really emphasizes how important it is to have fresher coffee (the CO2 produced in the basket from the extraction helps produce your crema, but also helps inhibit the flow of coffee). I was getting 6 second shots with old coffee. Moment I swapped to one roasted earlier this month, perfect shot!

Bought this mainly to pull stronger espresso shots with a higher dose, especially for iced drinks. Works well for that purpose. The fit on my Breville Barista Pro is very tight in the stock portafilter and can be difficult to remove, so I mainly use it with a bottomless portafilter instead. I didn’t notice any meaningful difference in extraction or flavor compared to the standard Breville basket. Main downside is puck removal. The straight-sided design makes the puck stick, requiring several super firm knocks, and it doesn’t always come out cleanly in one piece. Solid option if you want higher-dose shots, but be aware of fit and cleanup trade-offs.

I am by no means a barista expert. I used to work at Starbucks, where pulling good shots meant “pressing the button on the automatic machine.” I’ve been on a consistent journey with my Breville Barista Express to find out how I can pull shots that taste better and better. I’d heard about IMS baskets, but for a long time there weren’t any made to fit my machine. This one does (although I use a 3rd party bottomless portafilter). My first try using it, I pulled a shot using the standard basket first, and then swapped in the IMS basket, pulled another shot, and tasted both. Without my even beginning to adjust the dose or grind, the IMS basket immediately produced more flavorful shots. The best way to describe it is the shots I pull with this have more “depth” to them: the flavor goes “deeper” somehow than the standard basket. There’s more to the flavor profile as a whole, so to speak. I notice this as well with shots that aren’t dialed in yet: all the flavor notes seem to have more to them. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a Barista Express. It has the ability to improve the quality of every shot you pull, without any additional effort on your part.

UPDATE: While the IMS basket still works well and I have no problems with it in use, I recently ordered a Normcore magnetic dosing funnel to help with getting ground coffee into the basket as well as using a WDT tool and I find that the IMS basket is not magnetic. D'oh! So I need to replace the IMS with something that the magnets will stick to. Baskets are generally not that expensive so it's not that big a deal but it's something you should know if you intend to get a magnetic dosing funnel. Otherwise get the ones that affix with locking tabs instead. This basket fits my aftermarket bottomless portafilter perfectly and seems to work very well. I do watch the shot as it comes out of the basket and, though I do get some channeling now and then, when I get the grind and tamp just right, the IMS basket distributes the shot evenly across the bottom and seems to pour a very nice shot with good crema. So it clearly works well. I can't see anything to complain about it so I'm quite happy with my purchase. It was also reasonably priced. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to try an aftermarket basket.

Estaba bien emocionado por esta canastilla, pero me decepcionó. Comenzando la medida es un poco mas de lo que el anuncio indica. La tengo ajustada a un porta filtro si de 54mm para mi máquina Breville barista pro y me dio bastante trabajo poder usarla al principio. Ya opte por dejarla puesta porque me da miedo que se dañe el porta filtro si cuando la saque. Por lo demás es una muy buena canastilla. Es la segunda canastilla IMS que tengo y pensé que iba a ser igual que la anterior, aunque es de otra compañía. Esta canastilla la adquirí realmente por el precio y las criticas, pero me arrepiento de haberla comprado. Exito a todo aquel que la adquiera.
