The color of the car is not as important. The important thing is the amount of time in which its been since you last clay barred the car. If it is within a year, you can use the blue light clay bar. Over a year then the yellow. Over 2 years, the medium, and then the black clay bar is the heavy duty. It is best to use the medium or lighter clay bar before the black clay bar because you could end up damaging the paint if you go to heavy.
