Honestly, these are not the most popular brand among serious Gypsy Jazz players - you might find other singles on one of the Gypsy Jazz websites - but either way, you'll end up paying shipping for a special order single string....which will probably end up at the total cost of a full set! **Q: Does this come with a plain or wound G string?** A: Wound G string, its a great string set **Q: Anyone using these for fingerstyle blues? What do you think of them?** A: To understand these strings, you must understand they are made for a true "gypsy jazz" guitar (modeled after the old Selmer guitars). Why is that significant? Because, for one thing, the scale length is 26.38 in. Compare that to an old classic fingerstyle blues guitar, like a Gibson L-0, which is 24.5 inches. The thin nature of these strings is offset by the longer scale of a gypsy guitar. Now, if you are asking would finger style blues sound cool on a gypsy jazz guitar strung with these? That very well could be cool and funky sounding. I hope that helps. **Q: How would these sound on a Fender concert-size acoustic?** A: Hard to know without trying. It may sound ok but they also may sound anemic because they're designed for a long scale guitars. I'm guessing your Fender is 25.5" scale or thereabouts and guitars these strings are designed for are 26.5", that's a big difference. Cheap enough to put on a set if you're curious.
