Absorbs well Review: I use this repti-bark for my baby Hermann’s tortoise enclosure. The size is perfect, it’s affordable, looks awesome, smells nice and it’s not messy. I actually use about 4 inches of peat moss on the bottom and then a couple inches of this bark layered on top. There’s the odd longer stick in there that I’ll pull out, but this is a great product. My tortoise was 3 months old and weighed only 24 ounces when I started using this and he had no problem getting around or burrowing down into it. I keep the humidity fairly high and spray down his enclosure twice a day with warm water and have never had a problem with mould. This is the first kind of reptile bark product I tried and there’s no reason for me to try anything else. It covers about half of the bottom of a 100 gallon tank. It smells very pleasant, does cause slivers, absorbs moisture and odor, and is a very reasonable price for the bag you’ll get. Helps snake shed their skin by providing a course surface to rub against to loosen and remove the skin. It’s reddish in color adding a little bit of atmosphere to your terrarium, sone contrast depending on the color of your snake, could also work as a hiding place again depending on the color of your amphibian.
