Does it work for ribbons?

Yes, you can burn ribbons with this burner. Make sure you have a new battery in it, and be very careful not to have your fingers too close to the unit. It WILL burn through your skin!!

Can the battery be replaced?

Yes... you can even up the heat by using a lithium ion 14500 rechargeable battery. It's the same size as a AA battery, but it puts out 3.7v instead of 1.5v. In case you want to use it for cautery.

Can be use to cauterize warts?

This is not a medical tool. It is to melt synthetic threads.

Works great!

This thing works great! I bought it for use when trimming thread ends while making knife sheaths, but also use it on my camping gear. Very useful with trimming threads or cutting cords on a hammock or tarp where the material next to the thread is heat sensitive. My wife saw me using it and wanted one so I ordered a second one for her to use while quilting. Simple, easy to use, and inexpensive.
