Pretty good. My son loves this hat and it definitely keeps his head from getting sunburned.

Does this hat have a sweat band and if so what is it made of?

Not in the traditional sports-cap sense. The entire inner brim is padded so it definitely helps wick sweat. The hat is quite good for long days out paddling.
