Columbia Women's Helvatia Hiking Shoe

These are really comfortable and sturdy hiking shoes. I recommend breaking them in before your first hike tho. The back was a little stiff on first wear.

The color was actually darker than I was expecting. I was expecting a light beige but they're actually..... I'm not sure what to call it, light brown I guess. I normally wear a 10 in running shoes (Saucony & Asics), trail runners (Salomon & Saucony), and hiking shoes (Salomon), so that's what I ordered. This is my first time wearing Columbia and I find that they are rather large in the toe box, even when wearing heavy wool socks. I've worn these hiking twice now, for about 10 miles, and they are pretty comfortable. They are quite flexible and required no breaking in, but at the same time quite sturdy, as I didn't feel the sharp rocks through the soles. I have Metatarsus Adductus and have a very difficult time finding shoes that fit my arch and that wear comfortably all day. Besides being too big, these came pretty close to fitting the bill. Wish I had returned them for a 9 1/2. I've since added gel inserts to see if I can snug them up a bit.

The Good: Light, breathable trail shoe. The profile is quite slim, and they look more like a sneaker than a hiking shoe-- but they do have good support and traction. I would have loved to take them out on the trail, but for one issue: the toe box is too tall.The Issue: The toe box is too tall, causing my foot to slide forward on downward slopes and squash my toes against the front of the shoes. This isn't a problem that could be solved by tight lacing. I've never had this problem with a shoe before. I sent them back they wouldn't have been comfortable after a few slopes on the trail.I'd recommend only if you plan to use them casually (not hikes, and especially not hikes with hills), or if you know your feet are "taller" around the ball of your foot.

Bought these for a road trip that included hiking everyday for a week. I was a little worried as these were shipped in the day before I left for my trip so the only "breaking in the shoes" I did was just walking around the house in the morning while I was packing.These shoes held up pretty well. The hike was pretty dusty but the shoes never really seemed to get dirty, which is a plus. Also wore these on a snow trail that had occasional ice... not a good idea. These shoes aren't meant for them to begin with and growing up in a place that never snowed didn't help me either when it came to balance.Just stick to the dry trails (plus these shoes aren't waterproof, although I never noticed my feet being wet after walking through snow).

I do like them. I've been wearing them for the past few days b/c I'm getting ready to go on a hiking vacation trip and need to break them in. I have a high arch and they've provided enough support for my arches. I have slight outer bunions on my feet and the width is accmodating without pinching or causing a blister in between my pinky toe and the next one - this is good. The soles are well constructed and flexible. Plus they're pretty cute. They're not gross neon colors. They'll go with capris, shorts, skorts, jeans and probably lederhosen - if you wanted to be brave about it.

Looks great. Fits good. Inside is smooth so if you wear barefoot as I would, no blisters unlike some. I think that points to care and quality manufacturing. Note denser (see black part on heel) material built into midsole--that'll keep it from collapsing unlike just plain foamy EVA.I may have to return because like seemingly almost all hiking and running shoes lately the last is curved and thus doesn't work for my particular foot injury and the orthotics that correct it.Bargain. Was worth trying. I dont' feel bad about it at all. If it wasn't curved and I'd not had to return it'd be 5 stars.

I really like these shoes - these are my second pair. The first pair is still in good shape, at 2 years, worn several times a week. The only problem I had with the first pair is that on the outside of the black toe kick/reinforced area a little hole appeared on the outside, on both shoes. Could be just how they wore with my foot; not sure. Worth it though, especially at the sale price. Work well for all day shopping or light hiking, and everything in between.

I have been looking at these shoes for ages and finally decided to get them. Like the New Balance shoes they are replacing, I got them in a 9.5 since there were conflicting reviews about size and just decided to go with what I knew was my most common size. The shoes are great; perfect mix of tennis shoe and rugged footwear, my toe, however, pressed into the end of the shoe enough when I stood that it was uncomfortable. I would recommend going up a half size from what you typically wear, especially if you often fluctuate in shoe size like I do.

je randonne quasimment tous les jours 1 à 2 heures sur des terrains différents comme on peut en trouver sur la Corse du littoralje trouve quelles sont bien adaptées ,légéres et respirent bienje les ai depuis un peu plus de 2 ansle seul petit bémol - c'est que comme les respirent quand vous revenez à la maison , nos chaussettes sont pleines de poussiéres quand le temps est sec !!!maintenant qu'on on revient d'une marche on change forcemment des chaussettes et on se lave les pieds : non?

Chaussures conforment à la description, j'ai pris une taille de plus qu'habituellement, comme toutes les chaussures de sport.Tout est OK, RAS, je recommande le produit.

Chaussure très confortable, semelle épaisse et bon maintien tout en étant légère : parfait pour de la petite randonnée. Prix raisonnable.

Déçue par ce modèle d'autant que je possédais déjà un modèle ancien de cette marque. Le modèle reçu était trop large sur le devant du pied et la pointure trop petite, bien que j'avais commandé un 38 alors que ma pointure normale est 37.
