Does it inflate more than one time with the CO2 cylinder?

Gary, thank you for your question. The vest is inflated when a properly armed CO2 cylinder is deployed and the concealed gas is released into the inflation bladder. Once a CO2 cylider has deployed it is no longer able to inflatable your vest. The vest can be inflated and deflated many times though. Rearm kits are sold where you can release the COs from the bladder, repack the vest and install a new cylinder and your vest is back in service. Can it be kept inflated?

Diane, thank you for your question. The vest is intended to remain inflated at a predetermined minimum buoyancy for 24 hours. The inflation chamber is a porous material and will lose small amounts of pressure over time, but can be re-inflated to the desired buoyancy by blowing into the manual oral inflation tube. This situation may exist if you were to enter the water and rescue was a long time from being available. Otherwise if you are thinking of using this inflatable lifejacket as a traditional style foam lifejacket and using it as a buoyancy or swimming aid while in the water, we do not recommend this type of use. They can be difficult to swim in due to how the inflation is positioned on your body and if it is damaged due to the in water activity you are participating in, you would not have buoyancy protection at that point. Inflatable lifejackets are intended to be short term, immediate buoyancy for emergency situations until rescue can be provided. Hopefully this answers your question.. Does this have an expiration or life expectancy?

No. Just replace the CO2 cartridge every couple of years.

So - just to be clear - this vest will deploy whenever it's in contact with water. That is - it's not a 'hydrostatic' mechanism that Mustang's using?

Jon, thank you for your question. Deployment all depends on your meaning and interpretation of "contact with water". The mechanism is design to deploy when fully submerged in water. Rainfall or spray from large waves should not initiate deployment. The mechanism in the Bluestorm® Cirrus26 is on rare occasion, susceptible to humidity but generally does not deploy unless fully under water. You are correct in stating that this mechanism is not a hydrostatic mechanism, but both mechanisms reply upon submersion to deploy, they just activate in different manners. Comfortable and slim design

Well made. Comfortable fit without excessive bulk. Come on, ANYTHING you wear will have some bulk. This is pretty streamlined. Use it for flat water kayaking. Doesnt interfere with paddling. At some point will jump in the water to see how the self inflate works for the fun of it and to acclimate to how it works. Felt cooler on hot days than I would have with a full jacket.

Only con is the price, but it’s worth the buy.

Comfortable and instructions were pretty easy to follow. I did find a YouTube video to confirm them as this was my first PFD with a CO2 can. Price was pretty steep and I could not find a coast guard approved alternative. So I caved and purchased this one for the highly reflective colors for safety visibility and the low profile for comfort and to help me actually want to wear it. Can confirm if you have a C+ cup size this PFD is comfortable and not restrictive on you like a normal life jacket style. Wore out once so far and feel like this one will last me for years as stitching looked secure and durable. So plan to get my moneys worth and be out on my new kayak as much as possible. lol.
