I've never received a bad one. With BMW engines, they'll go 50-100,000 miles, easy. From a nit-picky standpoint, none of the NGK IX plugs I've run have ever had any kind of an issue. No dished-out crush washers, broken electrodes or anodes. I use anti-seize (some people will tell you to do this with NGK, some will tell you to avoid it) and torque to 25-27 foot-pounds; I've never had one back out or come loose, or stripped threads or otherwise hurt the block. These install easily with a standard magnetic spark plug socket. I don't see improved power or economy or any of that typical mumbo jumbo. What these plugs give you is the knowledge that you'll only have to replace them every 50,000-100,000 miles. Compared to copper or platinum, the extra couple bucks you pay per plug will pay itself back not only in the longer lifetime but in the labor you save by not having to replace them so frequently.
