I use a bright flashlight right into the mix and this allows you to really see how well blended it is. I also saw some video's where people use a small torch to help remove air bubbles, I tried this and it works awesome...you just pass the torch about 4-5 inches away and you'll see the surface turn to glass-smooth. For the edge of tables I used tape to help reduce spill over the side but this was for the 2nd coat.
