Tough, durable, well made
Great toolbox, well worth the price. I was able to finally put my cardboard box of tools into one place, neatly organized. Toughness is great - I accidentally banged a crowbar into this today; the craftsman toolbox was completely undamaged, while the crowbar had lost some paint. Just very well made, I'm really pleased with this. All the drawers slide easily, and the top has an integrated lock so the drawers can't slide open while it's closed, meaning they won't open while you're walking around carrying this. One thing I really appreciate is the latches - when open, they don't interfere with the drawer closing, like some knockoffs do. It's a small detail, easy to overlook, but if it wasn't like this, you'd notice immediately when they stopped a drawer from closing. Just a very nice attention to detail that shows some thought went into this thing

This is a great help in organizing all these tools
In the late 80s I got my first cars and all of them needed tons of work. They were all mid to late 70s cars that had seen better days. Being of meager means, I had to buy a Haynes book and do the work myself. I got my first credit card at Sears and started buying Craftsman tools as I needed them to keep the car I was driving on the road. Time passed and eventually I bought newer cars and shops fixed the rare repairs needed. During the pandemic, I paid off my latest car, a 2012 Nissan. Of course, a completely trouble-free car has now gotten to a point where maintenance and repairs are necessary and given the financial times we are in, I’ve broken out the old toolbox, a grey Craftsman I bought in 1990 or so…it had a top tray and a deep bottom…all the Craftsman tools I owned barely fit and we’re just piled up in a random fashion. Most of the old tools were SAE and I needed metric sets, Torx bits & sockets, and updated tools to work on the Nissan and my 2008 BMW. The old grey toolbox was still sturdy and functional…but a bit rusty, completely full, and completely disorganized. It was time for an upgrade. This Craftsman 3 drawer box fits the bill nicely. The construction, handle, latches, etc…are the exact same as my “made in USA” box. I am very pleased with the quality and storage capacity…although, thanks to my upgrade in tools, it has very little room for expansion. This box is as big as a portable kit can be…it’s over 70lbs fully loaded! But I can still manage to lift it and walk it out to the car. I guess a rolling toolbox is next, but as far as something that can be put in the trunk of a car…this is as small yet as complete as it gets. As far as the reviews for this box…I see some wrong-headedness here. The drawers are MEANT to lock when the top is closed. It prevents tools falling out when being carried. If the drawers DON’T lock as it should when the top is closed, then that drawer or drawers were not FULLY closed before closing the lid. To those claiming some difference from the old, made in USA Craftsman box and this one…I can honestly say I own an American made Craftsman toolbox of the same dimension front to back and side to side as this one and the steel is the same thickness, handle dimensions and material are the same, the latches are the same…all of it.! The new red box is taller than the old, grey one and has ball-bearing supported drawers, they are clearly the same otherwise. I am VERY satisfied, but feeling my age when I pick up this crazy-heavy toolbox!

It's Craftsman - what else needs to be said
This is so well made I'll have it for the rest of my life. A bit small, should've gotten something a bit larger. But it does the job! Highly recommend.

NOT the 26" model toolbox!!
there was 1 other review i found that said this was not the 26" toolbox, and instead was the 20" model. but unfortunately, i took the word of the other reviews when i shouldn't have. i should have listened to the lone review that warned of an inaccurate listing. i suspect the rest of the people that reviewed this and gave it a high rating either, a) did not know what they were buying, b) didn't care whether it's a 26" or 20" toolbox, or c) didn't check the order once they received it. the model # of this item is CMST53005RB. when you look at the amazon listing, the toolbox dimensions are listed as 26"Lx14"Wx17"H. The official Crafstman website also lists the toolbox as 26"x14"Wx17"H. the item was delivered with model #CMST53005RB printed on the outside of the package. now, when you open the brown shipping box, there is retail packaging inside (which contains the actual toolbox) surrounded by styrofoam w/ the wrench organizer wrapped in foam wrap, laying outside of this retail package. once you open the brown cardboard box to reveal the retail package inside, the model # of the toolbox changes to CMST98245RB. craftsman toolbox model #CMST98245RB is the 20" version of the toolbox (20.5"Lx8.5"Wx12"H), not the 26" version. so, if you're buying this for the 26" version of the toolbox, STOP! this is NOT the item you want. if you dont care whether it's a 26" or 20" toolbox, then save yourself about $45 USD (at the time of this review) and pick up the CMST98245RB model for around $50 bucks instead of $93.

Big toolbox - why the wrench thing?
Neat and big and heavy, for tools and metal stuff. Why did it come with a empty wrench holder thing?
