This microscopic tick you can see in the images was only even visible bc it was feasting on the WATERLINE OF MY POOR KITTY'S EYEBALL!!! This isn't the first time one latched on there & using tweezers that close to the eyeball of an irritated cat (who wants nothing to do with any of it) can be very nerve racking! They are clueless. Twisting the tool as you pull it out forces the tick to release it's grip. Have used many times and always comes out clean in one piece. **Q: how does this not just twist the tick's head right off?** A: There are barbs on the tick's head that dig in if you try to pull it out. That's why the head separates with the pulling method. Twisting in one direction causes the barbs to collapse and tick releases from the skin. Contrary to the instructions, you should turn the tick counter-clockwise. **Q: Does this come with a small and a large remover like the image pictured?** A: Yes, you'll be glad to have both sizes. This little device is the absolute best thing for removing ticks. Twice in the last month I have ended up with a tick (both times the size of a pin head). Follow the directions! Be sure not to panic! Take your time and have a magnifying glass and head lamp ready to help. Slide the tick remover until the tick is in the smallest "V" of the tool. I used the smaller of the two tools. Then TWIST the tool as the directions show. The tick I had today had probably been on less than 3 hours. I noticed it while removing my sock. It was attached and starting to get red. I had to get a magnifying glass and head lamp to see it to remove it! But, it worked. I got the head too. The other tick I found this month had probably been on over night - so about 12 hours. It was very red and inflamed. The tool worked like a charm!
