I got it to take the place of my original wedding ring, which doesn't fit anymore. I just didn't want to spend all the money on a new gold ring and of course I'm a Lord of the Rings fan. I wear it most everyday all day and only take it off if I am doing work that would make it dangerous or if I am working in the lab. I have forgotten a few times and have worn it while working outside with power tools etc and it has had some exposure to things that should have scratched it but it appears to be in pristine shape. I forgotten a few times in the lab as well and it has probably gotten things on it that might have damaged some rings but not this one.
