It says on the side not to insert in food over 195 F. Have any of the other homebrewers had problems with cooling wort directly from boiling?

No .... I'm not a home Brewer but as long as you mix with the cold wand for a minute or so you shouldn't have a problen

Do you have to stir constantly to cool or can you just let it sit in the pot?

We take it straight from the freezer and drop it in the pot. A few stirs occasionally will help but no need to continually stir.

Is this product BPA-free?

According to the factory these are not BPA free.

Does this product contain bpa? the seller on amazon needs to either know the answer to this or obtain it.

I really do not know. All that I can tell you is that it is food safe. Sorry, I wish that I could be of more help.
